Who Would You Bet A Months Wages On To Beat Ali?
Re: Who Would You Bet A Months Wages On To Beat Ali?
A motivated Lennox Lewis.
And I'd bet 3 months wages on it.

Do you make a paltry sum, and feel the need for a "hail Mary"?DaveK wrote:A motivated Lennox Lewis.

I thought I was alone, I too think Louis style would very good for a Ali winkeithmoonhangover wrote:I'm interested, who?ThatOne wrote:No one...
But there are a few fighters I wouldn't bet a month's wages a presumably prime Ali would beat.
I think he could have trouble against Jack Johnson, Holmes and Lennox on his best night. I'll probably get shot for saying this, but I think Louis is an easy night for Ali.

Bowe.

I wouldn't necessarily put a months wages on anybody but I would favor prime Frazier to beat him. As for other fighters, I find it strange that nobody is mentioning Norton. Ali had major problems with Norton in all three fights and those actual fights should count for more than hypothetical match-ups imo.

I would never bet a months wages, but i'd certainly be tempted to have a dabble on frazier, Bowe & Holmes.

A lot of the big guys with real athletic talent. Wlad, Vitali, Lewis. Holmes was a bit of an Ali clone. And Tyson could be defused. Holyfield would get the win I think. As would a peak Bowe.

There's no way Ali lets it get anywhere near round 23. Jeffries wasn't difficult to hit and Ali was supremely accurate. Add to that the fact that Jeffries didn't throw a lot of punches and didn't have great foot speed. How exactly is he going to land telling blows on Ali?Il Duce wrote:James J. No way Muhammad Ali could go '25-Rounds' with this 'Hay Baler'.

Another one that could have beaten him: Ezzard Charles....IF, A BIG IF, he comes with the same speed and 20 pounds heavier. He was a complete fighter.

I probably would wager that much myself.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Prime Frazier is the only one I'd wager that much on. That night in MSG he beats any Ali you want to throw at him. Though Joe was even better in 69.

Re: Who Would You Bet A Months Wages On To Beat Ali?
no one.
coming closest:
.early twenties mike tyson. very fast, very
hard to hit.
.larry holmes. had it all & could dig deep.
.vitali. due to his physicality and tenacity,
which IMO is underrated.
next in line:
.prime evander gives everyone a difficult fight.
.louis i think is not flexible enough overall to
avoid ali and still get something landing by himself.
.the lean (golota) version of lewis.
.bowe's prime was too short and untested to make
a judgement. tunney is too small and has no speed
advantage. dempsey is overrated. jack johnson i don't
know. seen too little footage. but he seems to be
competitive with everyone in history. jeffries: totally
easy fight for ali.
