He was a tremendous fighter and had an interesting career before his tragic death. He fought very frequently, usually against less than stellar opponents. However, fought enough quality competition to prove that he had talent. Even though he was naturally a light heavy, he took on heavyweight. He hung onto until the 15th vs Schmeling. He gave Sharkey all that he could handle. Both fights are on Youtube.

He is someone who you don't hear as much about as you might think.
