The stoppage? Very, very bad.lillywhite14 wrote:Be honest. How bad was it?

He was in better condition than Froch was in the first.lillywhite14 wrote:Be honest. How bad was it?

I have won 100 quid on the froch stoppage but I have the feeling like I lost. The fight was building into an epic.

He needs to learn to duck???
Spoken like the second coming of Angelo Dundee!!!!

Agreed, he let the red mist come down in round 6 right when he looked like taking Froch out. Dropping his hands and shipping shots. If he had kept his discipline there didn't seem any way of Froch getting back in it.edgey2009 wrote:If Groves fought like he did the first 5 rounds and didn't start to trade with Carl like he did then this fight would have been won easy by George. Inexperience in big big fights might have been Groves downfall tonight!
Saying that, worth bearing in mind this was a massive step up for him and most seemed to think he'd got tonked in 6 rounds. Can only see him improve from it and a more settled training camp.

A couple of free shots and an uppercut and it would have been over.lillywhite14 wrote:Be honest. How bad was it?

I didn't have the contest as one sided, as most here. Froch, after the 1st round was doing ok, maybe not winning but wasn't way behind or anything, in my opinion.lillywhite14 wrote:Be honest. How bad was it?
The stoppage? Yeah, that was crap.

In fairness he has just been in war and was nearly knocked out. Feel sorry for George. Sounds like Booth screwed him over.
Re: Froch-Groves RBR *Spoiler alert*
That whole interview was cringeworthy and I'm sure everyone has complete sympathy for groves. A rematch will never happen, shame that groves isn't going home as a world champion much like Ray Beltran should have

Total speculation. Groves still had enough left to being throwing hard shots throughout the final moments of the fight.Ketchel wrote:A couple of free shots and an uppercut and it would have been over.lillywhite14 wrote:Be honest. How bad was it?

I thought Froch wanted the rematch with Ward after being Groves :)

Seriously, that was the single most traumatic fight I have ever seen live.
I can't believe Froch got decked like that in the first. Sickening. But then to come back...I personally think he would have stopped Groves anyway in the last three...but wow. Bad stoppage.
Groves fought his heart out tonight. Ultimately though he got caught with heavy fire which led to his demise. I knew it would happen but had no idea Groves would do so well. Definitely respect George after that.
Maybe Carl should retire now.

Groves was about to be stopped. Moan all you like, but he would not have survived 3 more rounds.

Hey, it ain't my fault Froch was beating the shit out of him. Groves could barely defend himself. Froch would have won.deadpan wrote:He needs to learn to duck???

Maybe, maybe not. You don't know what would've happened, and based on what ACTUALLY happened the stoppage was very early.rapid2 wrote:Groves was about to be stopped. Moan all you like, but he would not have survived 3 more rounds.

I completely agree, it was one of the worst stoppages you'll see.crusader wrote:The stoppage? Very, very bad.lillywhite14 wrote:Be honest. How bad was it?

I just think Froch would have won the fight. If it had gone on, it would have been another 10 seconds or so.palooka wrote:Keith, If I could put you on ignore for this thread only I would.keithmoonhangover wrote:He needs to learn to duck first.palooka wrote:Groves will be an absolute massive superstar.

Nice interview by the Matchroom guy, Eddie Hearn....I was expecting him to be revelling in the punishment that he wasn't any part of - but that was balanced, considered and honest and he sounded actually concerned for both men and not just banging the drum and selling some more, he surprised me there!
