Mistakes Groves made tonight
I thought it was to his detriment that he didn't move to his left at all in this fight. He was content to circle right. Not sure why. I think he could've finished this fight had he slid to his left in spots to set up a left hook or even do left hooks to the body. Froch simply could not match the speed and athleticism of Groves tonight, and Groves only partially took advantage of this. And the more obvious mistake was standing right in front of Froch at times with the earmuffs on and trading back and forth. I understand a young guy wanting to prove his mettle, but he could've had Froch out of there if he set up his shots like he did in that first round. Hopefully Groves watches the tape and realizes that he can make it easier on himself if he just fights within himself and doesn't try to out-brute a brute.

Not bullshit, I agree with the OP

Only mistake was trading for too long when he could have just jabbed and moved out.

It was inexperience , he did the same with Anderson but got away with it.
Re: Mistakes Groves made tonight
He lacked the discipline to stick to the plan. He was making Froch look silly in the first four. Froch couldn't get near him.
Obviously lacks the experience as well.

Most fighters dont like to circle into the power hand though if they can help it. Also Groves was having so much success with the right hand over the top, there was no point him trying something else.5burowz wrote:I thought it was to his detriment that he didn't move to his left at all in this fight. Re: Mistakes Groves made tonight
Got to be honest the only mistake he made was not going for the knockout in the 2nd round, he was always going to hurt Froch early (100/1 for 118 pound on the round 1 prices shows I truly believed that) however when he did that he played safe second round, Froch barely threw a punch second round he was just surviving, That fight was over second round if George does what George does.
Carl battled back well and basically old-manned him out of it, bad stoppage yes it certainly looked that - was George getting out of the 9th round with 90 seconds left, not in my opinion no.
Right winner of the fight as a 12 round distance, was Froch in front, of course not but its a championship fight, 12 rounds and he would have won inside the distance, over that championship distance.
Also letter to George dont just agree to a rematch because of how you feel make the buggers pay for it, they will pay a fortune its Carls pension fund, make them sweat, go Stieglitz/Abraham winner and batter them first and then charge them more.
I love both fighters they are British but George deserves a little bit back it was contentious at best last night.
