watt and halling are a disgrace
watt and halling are a disgrace
I swear to God I predicted froch would end it and grove s would quit seconds before it happened just as the sky commentators writing frochs obituary.I swear to God I saw it even as watt was talking shit.groves didn't would have been stopped irrespective of the ref
Froch was connection him even tho the ref is a ccunt
Best fight ever
But froch looked a shot fighter man never seen a fighter age like this since honeyghan
The way froch took 8-9 flush PowerShot in seconds and took them in the 4th round oh my God he is a legend
I had froch taking 3 rounds along the way he looked frail but his heart and experience won through.a legend
I just groves gets his rematch.incredible young talent.proud to be British we run the world of boxing for excitement

couldn't comment, but by contrast, Bunce, Booth and the anchor having a great night here. Great output by 5Live. Bunce just called for a medieval style fruit-throwing at Froch's family members who said Groves would get carried out on a stretcher
Go on Buncey lad!

This surpassed benn Eubanks.

I thought the commetary was incredibly biased towards Groves to be honest. Groves was very good but they didnt seem to acknowledge the success Froch was having aswell.
Re: watt and halling are a disgrace
Agreed...they highlighted everything Grives did and ignored almost everything Carl did, particularly Watt who made me want to smash my telly in.columbo wrote:I thought the commetary was incredibly biased towards Groves to be honest. I cannot stand listening to Jim Watt.

Jim Watt is a fornicating appalling commentator

Re: watt and halling are a disgrace
That's cos Groves was out boxing him rounds 1-7 - maybe one round for froch within thatamirah wrote:Agreed I thought they were shocking groves groves groves, spoiled a great fight
Re: watt and halling are a disgrace
The commentating was shocking.. But the fight was Groves Groves Groves.. He was rocking Froch at will without taking anything until the ninth.. Can't see how anyone can give Froch any of the first 8 rounds... Groves was also hitting big in the 9th as well.. Big joke all round
Re: watt and halling are a disgrace
Jim Watt sounded very biased in favour of Groves. It's as if he was willing him to win the fight. It took until the 6th round for Froch to get into the fight, but he was catching Groves before that point, yet Jim Watt was completely ignoring the shots that Froch threw with success. Whilst it was a woefull performance overall from Froch, the fact that Groves looked gassed after 7 or 8 rounds suggests that Froch had some success in the earlier rounds. You don't go from bossing a fight to being gassed if you aren't taking shots, yet listening to Jim Watt, it's as if Froch didn't connect at all. Appalling commentator.

Re: watt and halling are a disgrace
Sky seem to back a fighter and stick by him through thick and thin. I'm glad others have noticed. I thought Carl was clawing it back a little like the Taylor fight.
The stoppage was too early but it basically stole frochs acclaim for a thrilling come from behind victory, he should be getting massive respect for gutting that out. Ten more seconds and George was gone.
Credit to George tho.

Re: watt and halling are a disgrace
I agree. It was almost all Groves during that period, so their commentary should reflect that.rossij8 wrote:That's cos Groves was out boxing him rounds 1-7 - maybe one round for froch within thatamirah wrote:Agreed I thought they were shocking groves groves groves, spoiled a great fight
Re: watt and halling are a disgrace
I like Watt but he was a little too focused on what Groves was doing and not really giving much credit to Froch. I had the fight fairly close and not as one sided as most.
Halling? Well, he was just ranting about whatever Groves did and completely ignored Froch's work.
Bad night for Watt, bad night for the Ref, bad night for Froch and bad night for Groves.

Have to say I agree with this. Im not sure the commentary was bias, as opposed to utter rubbish.
Froch looked vulnerable from start to finish and was landing at an appalling strike rate... All of a sudden he was 2 punches away from killing groves!!!
Anyone see Froch walking to dressing room, was quite worrying, he was everywhere I thought.
His talking at the end was painful, and very reminiscent of David Brent.

What was Froch doing until the 8th? How was he winning rounds?NazNaci1 wrote:I like Watt but he was a little too focused on what Groves was doing and not really giving much credit to Froch. I had the fight fairly close and not as one sided as most.

That's true but Froch was landing shots aswell. I think that's the issue me and the OP have! They didnt seem to even recognise the punches Froch was landing.crusader wrote:I agree. Re: watt and halling are a disgrace
He was landing his share of jabs and was bustling burst of punches here and there. Groves wasn't that much more effective with his jabs after the 3rd round. He was just trying to to time Carl with the right, which he did do but he lost rounds too, in my opinion.crusader wrote:What was Froch doing until the 8th? Re: watt and halling are a disgrace
I honestly didn't see Froch landing much of note until the 8th.
I watched the fight w/o commentary so I cannot say much about the job Watt and Halling did, but I think fair commentary would reflect the fact that Groves was consistently doing better work.

Re: watt and halling are a disgrace
I thought Froch was missing with almost every punch he was throwing in those bursts, and I didn't see him actually land many jabs. Groves, on the other hand, was consistently landing flush shots with a lot behind them. He started to slow late in the fight though, and Froch began to land well.NazNaci1 wrote:He was landing his share of jabs and was bustling burst of punches here and there. Totally agree.... In fact every time he commentates he bores me to deathherb wrote:I cannot stand listening to Jim Watt.
Re: watt and halling are a disgrace
I thought Froch's jabs were landing pretty well, personally. Not with the same authority as Groves but they were landing fairly consistently. He just wasn't committing to them, so they looked like they were not effective.
Yeah, his flurries were ragged and a bit wild but he was landing to body quite well too. I am not saying Froch was winning or should be ahead or whatever. I just had it closer than people who gave like 7-8 rounds to Groves.
5-3 Groves, for me, was a little more in line...but meh...it was a s*** result.
