I don't know Groves personally and he won't know himself yet, but it all depends on how he reacts to no longer being an unbeaten fighter. How he deals with that fear of losing.
Groves was cheated therefore he's still undefeated.

Groves is a British Superstar and will ruin Froch, he did tonight; Froch is wrecked he is an old man and is old he'll not do 6 rounds in a rematch[/quote]

British Superstar - bit far maybe! Need to beat the champ to be classed that surely?
Wrecked and an Old Man? = To take the punishment he did and come back the way he did? Thats the sign of a True champ!
I agree that he was slower, being out boxed, but when it came to having to dig in and scrap - Froch showed why he is still holding the belts

Froch won't want to retire on the back of that performance, but he really should.

I thought Froch would win via stoppage in 6-8 tonight, but I'd favour an early Groves ko victory in a rematch.

As for Andre Ward...forget about it, would be a humiliation on tonight's evidence.

Credit to Groves, he proved a lot of people wrong tonight.

But I've never seen Froch so poor as he was tonight, just wasn't at the races. He also looked like a fragile, beaten man during Sky's short post-fight dressing room glimpse.

Hopefully Carl will swallow his pride & retire whilst still a world champ.

AWFUL STOPPAGE!!

The score-cards were even worse than the stoppage.

Carl got away with murder should have had at least a point maybe even 2 deducted.

What the hell did I just watch tonight? :o :o :o

However he would have been shafted looking at the scorecards
Just so.

But who knows what that has done to Groves confidence? In one way it's good that if he was going to lose to Froch it's good that Froch didn't get to land a devastating finishing punch but still when he reads the paper tomorrow he will have lost and all his friends will be commiserating with him (echoing what you read on here) rather than congratulating him as usual and that may have an effect. Who knows, it all depends on George's ability to bounce back and even he won't know how that will go yet.

I started work at 6 this morning, went to the gym this afternoon and could barely stay awake at tea time. Now I can't even think about sleep after the adrenalin from that fight, just shit at the end, disappointed with Carl's comments too. But some of the shots Froch took were unbelievable.

Guys, the same result happens in a rematch. Groves wins early rounds but just can't last it out. Don't think Carl gets tagged again like he did in the first.

Well yeah true but a defeat is a defeat and I worry that it might do something to Grove's ultra-confident mindset because Froch was coming on stronger after round 7. I hope not. I would have loved Groves to be champion tonight.

You and I are Froch diehards but I think the both of us were seriously shocked by that first round knockdown.

1. Groves
2. Groves
3. G maybe a draw
4. Draw maybe Froch
5. Froch maybe a draw
6. Groves maybe froch for staying on his feet. Crazy poo !
7. Froch
8. Froch
9. Wtf !

Outstanding fight. Amazing froch fought on from that kd.
Actually froch looked like he'd taken damage to his brain. He made some gitters with his right leg a couple of times in the second round when unprovoked. And in general looked off with weird movements.
But ok, a kd like that of course leaves you stunned for wide span of time.
Carl just said he cant remember first round...
But wauv groves fought good in there. And took some hits and held up well.
Ref must have rated groves out when calling that. Groves imminent reaction tells a different story imo.
But the wind was blowing carls way at the time of the stoppage.
Froch looked way of his usual self so i cant really figure out if Groves just skipped up a few levels and finds himself at the no. 2 position at smw or just looked that good and got away with it due to frochs poor efforts ?
Maybe froch should quit now. That kind of beating to the head aint good for you. GGG kills him within a minute if he shows up like that.

Groves was a significant betting underdog. Froch was telling him he was gonna school him. He was booed into the ring and cheered out of it. The majority think it was only poor judgement and/or foul play that prevented him from shocking a LOT of people. He dropped Froch heavily, outboxed him and made Carl more gunshy than he has been at any point throughout his career.

Which part of this is going to adversely influence George's confidence?

Froch has a great chin but he's been hurt several times , so I was surprised but not shocked by the knock down. Groves is fast, he can punch hard, and he's fairly explosive at times.

Groves is possibly the hardest puncher, at world level, in the division.

I'd like to see him chase down Ward next.

Never been put down that hard though! He was put down pretty heavily against Taylor but his legs looked ok when he got up. Tonight he got up and looked like he'd drunk a bottle of Vodka haha.

He has no chance against Ward.

Columbo, my jaw hit the floor when Froch was decked. Just dropped so so hard. Crazy. He's NEVER been hurt like that before. Buzzed a few times yes, but hurt like that? Never. That was the last thing I expected.

How do you know? They might be very positive about his performance and be saying that he is the true champion etc.

It wasnt that bad! He was knocked down heavily but his legs were fine. Tonight he got up and his legs were really wobbly.

I thought his legs were unsteady against Taylor as well, although admittedly he recovered more quickly in that fight.
