Everyone back to hating Froch?
Everyone back to hating Froch?
Fickle British public were a joke tonight. X factor culture in sport is disgusting.
Re: Everyone back to hating Froch?
yeah I thought Haye tried his best to bring a bit of balance. It's gutting for Groves, but Froch is a rock hard warrior and looked like he could win the fight. We're lucky to have two such strong and entertaining fighters in this division. I just hope Degale was watching and gets his career on track.
Re: Everyone back to hating Froch?
Howard Foster clearly didn't do Froch any favours with the timing of that stoppage.

Yeah ten more seconds and everyone would be saying it's the best come from behind victory ever etc.Kilburn wrote:Howard Foster clearly didn't do Froch any favours with the timing of that stoppage.

Yeah haye seemed the only one not going overboard and acknowledging Carl did what he had to dosendo wrote:yeah I thought Haye tried his best to bring a bit of balance. Re: Everyone back to hating Froch?
Because froch refused groves hand after the stoppage.
He then proceeded to go on about groves immaturity.
Backing Howard foster I felt started it & then saying all the people in the audience don't no what it's like to fight, which I don't care about because shows seem full of dickheads who are more suited to football

Re: Everyone back to hating Froch?
Froch has always walked a fine line between confidence and arrogance. His post fight interview showed his true colours tonight. Not an ounce of respect shown towards Groves, a man who he said he would school and finish a soon as a full shot landed.

Vote him out of the jungle. Oh wait, this is boxing....
Re: Everyone back to hating Froch?
i think many people were booing a bad decision.
the only way to vent that frustration was to boo the man that won.
unfortunately carl, a warrior who was fortunate to benefit from the early stoppage, got the stick
but as long as we dont get lengthy publicised interviews with refs, then thats the only way for fans to let peopke know they don't agree with the call, by booing the man man who took the dodgy stoppage and not only accepted it but refused to pay respect to the man who beat him for 7 rounds.
i felt, if anything, carl was the most disrespectful of the 2 in the build up to the fight. but for groves to leave the ring and still pay dues to his opponoent despite the dodgy result speaks volumes.

Re: Everyone back to hating Froch?
Reverse the roles, would Foster have grabbed Froch in a headlock and stopped the fight?
Re: Everyone back to hating Froch?
No way. We all know that. Even Team Froch on here.
Re: Everyone back to hating Froch?
i said the exact same to my matesgazza8 wrote:Reverse the roles, would Foster have grabbed Froch in a headlock and stopped the fight?
not only that, but do you think groves would have been allowed to fight on had he siffered the knockdown and beating froch did early on.
i dont think the ref would have let it get to the third if the roles were reversed
the ref had an anticipated outcome and made decisions to suit
Re: Everyone back to hating Froch?
I thought Froch walked through more abuse than I have ever seen and started getting on top of a guy who is technically on a different level. The dude used his chin to break down Groves, I don't know what else you can do but admire his will to win and just sit back and watch in awe of the guy. George is coming out of this fight with the fans backing and sympathy and in many ways I think its right, because that was a really hard stoppage for Groves to swallow, but I think people are really missing what Froch did tonight. Froch has the biggest balls I have seen from a British fighter and tonight he went further than I think he has ever gone in terms of brass balledness.

Re: Everyone back to hating Froch?
Froch done himself no favours in refusing to shake Groves hand after the fight. Considering he was robbed Groves was the gent, clapped Froch when the winner was announced. Froch waffled for 10 minutes in interview before he even came close to giving Groves any kind of praise. Arrogant and un-sportsmanslike.
Froch will go to bed knowing he was very very lucky to come away the winner. It will play on his mind that he was simply outclassed and made to look very ordinary. He looked slow, his timing was off and he looked very unsure of himself and tentative, pawing with his jab. Shocking decision.

Re: Everyone back to hating Froch?
He used his chin to break down Groves??? So he purposely took shots from a man who had floored him to gain an edge? Most ridiculous statement I've read on here.CheckHook wrote:I thought Froch walked through more abuse than I have ever seen and started getting on top of a guy who is technically on a different level. It wasn't balls he showed, Groves just boxed his head off.
I don't admire him for hitting on the break continuously, using an elbow, rubbing groves cuts with his wrists. All of which he got away with. . . Some might say that's cheating
Re: Everyone back to hating Froch?
Froch showed himself a bit really. He was banging on about immaturity but he was contradicting himself. Froch was actually being immature too.
Froch is a true warrior though. Can't believe he got through the 1st. Those punches Groves landed were frightening...

Re: Everyone back to hating Froch?
As I've always said this man would have been absolutely embarrassed by Joe Calzaghe, tough fighter but clearly lacking that top level shit.
Re: Everyone back to hating Froch?
The public should be ashamed at being led like sheep at loving Froch and hating Groves; Groves did not say anything bad about Froch, it was milked; Groves is by far the better fighter and the ref is a disgrace and did not ought to ref a big fight again; Groves will bea big star' Froch is don and should retire quick sharp while he is popular and before he loses any more fans.

where does he go though.
he said (and i believe him) he put 101% into the preparation for this fight against a fighter supposedly a level below his previous opponents.
what more can carl do? where else does he do to push out that extra 10% he needs to turn it around againsta fighter that will come in even more motivated

nicely said
Re: Everyone back to hating Froch?
Really? Groves cracked Froch round the back of the head in like the 4th round right? Its boxing, it happens and it certainly wasn't grounds to deduct points, or get upset about.gazza8 wrote:

As for the chin comment, my point was that the dude has zero quit in him and is insanely relentless, do you think he didn't realise that he was getting hit by a faster fighter? The point is he keeps pushing forward and keeps on coming and unless you know how to tie up and slow the pace you are going to be in for a torrid night, because Froch will role the dice every time he is in that situation. His will, durability and capability of just getting to a point where he doesn't care anymore, and is willing to just go with it, transcends technical ability and skill, which Groves clearly has more of.

Re: Everyone back to hating Froch?
You would have imagined Froch had never seen the sort tactics Groves adopted in the build up to this fight, honestly did anyone really think Groves thought so badly of him really.
Froch deserves more credit then he got but that interview after the fight stunk of man who clearly enjoys the attention but felt disrespected by the fans. Did anyone else notice he said hopefully Eddie can make the fight "somewhere else", what was he suggesting? Seemed like he thought the Manchester fight fans had turned on him.
Hopefully someone puts an arm around him and tells him his ego is in danger of running away from him and it's as easy to lose the general public as it is to gain their support. To get to his level of support you've got to pick up the none fight fan support on the way.
It all got a little too Rocky in the end for me but hopefully we will get a rematch from this and we can get a fairer result.

Re: Everyone back to hating Froch?
The big fights over here attract the football fan type, and all that comes with it ( booing, lack of respect, class and to be honest, knowledge )
I remember Audley receiving chants of 'you're shit and you know you are' after Haye beat him. Was embarrassing

Your spot on, Much as I respect Froch as a fighter he did himself no favours what so ever refusing to shake Groves handControversial wrote:Froch done himself no favours in refusing to shake Groves hand after the fight. after being out classed for most of the fight.
For me Froch was the one who was acting immature in the build up, making pathetic silly comments about George Groves trousers and bad breath, he was equally immature after the fight too. :(
