No chance in hell. Watch it again. The Taylor knockdown was a flash knockdown. Froch got right back up on steady legs. Taylor didn't even pounce on him, he could see he was fine.crusader wrote:He was hurt like that in the Taylor fight.

He became tentative after the Groves KD. He wasn't after Taylor.
Re: Froch-Groves RBR *Spoiler alert*
He was clearly hurt against Taylor, as he sat there on the canvas for several seconds with a shocked look in his eyes; he was also wobbled a few moments before getting dropped.Riddick Blowe wrote:No chance in hell. The bell went about 10 seconds after fighting resumed in his fight with Groves, so I'm not sure how people can say much about his state immediately after getting up.

Some unbeaten fighters are never the same after they lose that feeling of invincibility, I just hope that Groves isnt one of them. He was brilliant tonight.

Re: Froch-Groves RBR *Spoiler alert*
Confirmed tonight that George boy is the hardest puncher at 168, no doubt about it now, and I think Carl will confirm it too - was he lucky tonight, big time.
Next time out, Groves will put him to sleep - his legs were stiff as a new born giraffe tonight, when the ref stepped in and saved him. Because Carl's PHENOMENAL chin had saved him a few rounds before, but it was his last gasp effort in the 9th and the ref was behind him all the way.
Such a shame, because that was fight of the year before Foster ballsed it up.

I agree with Horse, that's exactly what they will do. He will need to be fed the line, and im sure family and friends will deliver.Horse wrote:How do you know? Re: Froch-Groves RBR *Spoiler alert*
Well, this time he was dropped hard by a big shot to the chin and there was enough time to see he was wobbly. The Taylor shot was an odd glancing blow to the top of the head. Froch was visibly more shaken tonight than then. I can't see how it's under question.
It's interesting, a couple of people before the fight said that Groves was capable of hurting Froch and I scoffed at it. I didn't see anything to suggest Groves hit harder than Kessler and Mikkel hit Froch with some murderous shots.
The same guys said that if Carl was hit with the type of shot Paul Smith was, it would be all over. I didn't see it happening but it almost did. He really timed Carl in the first, that was a hulking right hand. I'd like to see it again.

Re: Froch-Groves RBR *Spoiler alert*
I don't think he was significantly more hurt by the shot that Taylor dropped him with and the shot that Groves dropped him with. Groves landed a lot more hard punches after scoring a knockdown than Taylor did, and I think those punches may be responsible for Froch looking in worse shape and taking longer to recover than he did against Taylor.
Re: Froch-Groves RBR *Spoiler alert*
Someone has put a clip of the knockdown on youtube..... The way Carl seems to stop dead in perputual motion is actually rather chilling! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHwPTe3hJ50
Re: Froch-Groves RBR *Spoiler alert*
I dunno. There was only 10 seconds left in the round when Froch was dropped.crusader wrote:I don't think he was significantly more hurt by the shot that Taylor dropped him with and the shot that Groves dropped him with. I'm sorry 95 but family can't help what goes on in George's mind, I mean the feeling that he has thrived on that he believes he's the best super-middleweight out there. I'm just saying confidence is or can be a fragile thing and who knows how G will react even him until next time out. Let's hope he reacts as positively as you & I hope coz he was brilliant for 7 rounds.95gerog wrote:I agree with Horse, that's exactly what they will do. fair play to you mate, you could have easily "forgotten" about that! (if I had already dredged it up from page 4 on the forum
agree with your post, with the exception perhaps of the last sentence. I think fights like that tonight are just dangerous, I'm really glad both guys walked out of there. Classic unstoppable force (Groves) against immovable object (Froch)......the immovable object of immovable objects!
Re: Froch-Groves RBR *Spoiler alert*
Groves landed 2 or 3 hard shots within the final seconds of the round, and those aren't shown on the clip that you posted.columbo wrote:I dunno. Fair play, but the combination of premature ref and dodgy judges leaves a sour taste.n1ebf wrote:Riddick Blowe wrote:Well, this time he was dropped hard by a big shot to the chin and there was enough time to see he was wobbly. To be honest i think this highlights the requirment for standing counts to be used.
Just need to make sure that they arent used to often, that would be the difficult part!

I meant I'd like to see the knockdown again - and I just did. Not as heavy as I remember (in the heat of the moment and with the amount of money I had on it I was worried Froch could be DONE) but still shocking. He just walked onto it. Way more open than his last fight, noticeably sloppier. Who knows why.n1ebf wrote: with the exception perhaps of the last sentence.
On seeing the fight again though, it would be must-see. In a 12 round contest I would favour Froch again, although his timing was poor tonight and I feel like he should retire. Before this I had Froch over Golovkin but I would worry about him for that one now.

Sorry I misread, I was talking about Froch. lol My bad. As for Groves, I hope he does respond brilliantly the guy has amazing talent..i thought his chin was sound tonight when tested and Groves summed it up well in post fight. His so-called suspect chin played a huge role in the stoppage (and the back hander of course)

It's just that the judges actions coupled with the bizarre scoring makes everybody suspicious and that is a bad thing for boxing.
Re: Froch-Groves RBR *Spoiler alert*
People being suspicious is good for boxing, the officials being dodgy isn't.Neil Gee wrote:It's just that the judges actions coupled with the bizarre scoring makes everybody suspicious and that is a bad thing for boxing.
Re: Froch-Groves RBR *Spoiler alert*
Genuine question - do people think it was groves' gameplan to win by knock out? Because he was gassing from round 7 onwards and come round 9 he was done.
Was it too early a stoppage? I think so. Was Foster right to consider it? Yes. Would Froch have won by ko? Very probably.
Carl Froch needs to think carefully about what he does next. He has no one to apologise to, he has been at the top level for five years now, longer than any other British fighter since Lennox. But he cannot get hit like that again for 3 or 4 rounds and not expect it to take a toll on his longevity.
After a truly shocking undercard, it was a great main event.
