He does have to. He claims the public demanded Kessler 2 and that will be nothing compared to this. Only Ward would suffice if he swerves George.

He won't fight Ward. It wouldn't even be competitive. Ward has progressed, Froch regressed.

As said ward is a step too far & froch can't put this fight behind him. He took a pasting, groves was smashing the granny out of him.groves was hurt but his hands were up & got himself off the ropes as it was stopped.I can't believe booth abandoned him.id like to see degale sighn up with Eddie & take on froch because he beats him & then what a return!

Are you being serious? I really can't believe how little respect Froch receives despite all his acheivements. Whilst the end of the fight - which was a slightly premature stoppage but no worse - might leave some people thinking Groves deserves a rematch (which is questionnable as he was only going one way) Froch is under no obligation and, given the way GG behaved in the build up to the fight, you can see why he might not feel inclined to help him out.

Froch won't fancy a rematch after that though public pressure may make it happen regardless. He will push for a Ward rematch as a final fight I think

Direll was another one who he should rematch. I really don't want to see the ward fight.

I know I shouldn't feed the trolls and all but...surely you noticed your so called "better man" reeling around the stage on wobbly legs, turning his back and keeling forward? Or do the rose coloured specs preclude that?

I think pot > kettle here.

Groves was hurt but if you watch again you will see he's not turning his back or keeling forward. He just has Froch putting desperate pressure on. Did you see your "better man" getting flattened to the canvas in round 1 and getting constantly buzzed by right hands, particularly in round 6?

Would you honestly claim Groves was as hurt in round 9 as Froch was in rounds 1 to 6? If you do, the rose coloured specs are sitting pretty comfortably on you.

During post fight iFl TV interviews, when asked if he will give groves a rematch Froch says thats up to Hearn, irs not his decision. In another post fight interview Hearn says he cant make that decision and that irs up to Froch.

I get the feeling Froch is not keen on it. If he fails to give Groves an immediate rematch I will complety reassess my opinion of him.

Look at Groves's body position when its stopped - he's bent near enough to the wasist and facing away from Froch!

As for how hurt the two were respectively, I don't deny that Froch was on the canvas (though straight back up) and was buzzed by some shots, but he was never getting hammered for an extended period like Groves was in the 9th.

End of the day, regardless of if the stoppage was premature, its foolish to call groves number 1 in britain , he lost the fight, and although it was premature he was getting stopped in another round or so, he had done fantastically well and went up in my estimations a long way last night, but he was unravelling, and in that situation , Froch knows how to finish, i dont think groves was going to win, and even on points i think froch would have got it if he hadnt stopped it, 2 judges only had groves up by 1 with 4 to go, my own score had groves up by 3 and i still wasnt counting out a froch points win. you have to prove yourself as number 1 and while groves did well, hes not proved that at all yet.

Groove to suggest froch ain't got bottle males you look like a right anus.

Froch was made to look old he's been on the crest of a wave career wise & the young pretender showed he was the ultimate contender.
Pride kept froch going & he don't have much left IMO & could end up hurt if he receives that kind of abuse but you don't retire on the back of that win, I wouldn't blame him like he's had a hard career , but it's the financial side now.robert mcracken will prob tell him you got one more 2 max go in you

Rubbish. Froch has beaten MAgee, PAscal, TAylor, Bute, Dirrell, Abraham, Kessler and, lets face it, Groves. Groves has beaten...erm....

At best, Groves should rematch Degale with the winner to face Froch if he wants to continue that long.

He is number 1.

Is Jorge Castro better than John David Jackson because he won?

Bullshit stoppage AND GG will knocks his out next time, unless CARL bottles it.
Either a Troll, Thick or Both , you decide....

I'd agree Froch still no.1 based on past achievements but it should be settled with another bout. Froch would be screaming for a rematch if he was in Groves shoes and calling himself no.1, fair's fair.

Froch was the one who brought up the idea of a rematch ringside post fight. He's doesnt have to give groves a rematch but i've seen nothing in past form to make me think froch wouldnt give groves a rematch if he thinks the public want it.

I think Froch will retire now. From listening to the fight and reading some posts it sounds like he took a lot of shots. He's already been in more wars than what's good for him. I wouldn't be surprised if his missus disagrees with me tho.

When the dust settles, the result will still read Froch TKO9 over Groves. Did Froch underestimate Groves? Possibly. Did he take everything Groves had and come back strong? Yes.

I personally thought that it was a great fight, it has got everyone talking about boxing and that can only be a good thing. Howard is a very consistant referee and the ref's decision is final. The way George's head went back and from side to side from the last three Froch punches did look particularly nasty and are surely shots that ref's are trained to spot. Froch was behind on the cards but Groves was out of gas and in deep waters IMO.

Also to add, surely the events of the last few weeks, with Magomed in coma and the other cases of hospitalised fighters has led all ref's to be on a higher alert than normal and rightly so, but it will never stop the so-called fans demanding blood and a fighter having to be stretched out of the ring for a result to be accepted.
