Matchroom and Froch vs Groves undercard

Post by broomy7s »

Firstly let me say I am pro matchroom, I usually like what they do and I think they are doing great things for British boxing. I have been to pretty much all of their north west shows the last couple of years.

However we was promised a world class undercard for the Froch vs Groves bill. They had a long time to achieve this and what have they done? A couple of weeks ago they announced all the top British names on the card and everyone got excited thinking it was a stacked bill, including me. Then in the last couple of weeks the opponents have been announced and not 1 is a competitive fight on paper and add in the fact the opponents are getting less than 2 weeks notice then it really is a shambles.

Now I understand injuries happen but don't bullshit the fans going on about how stacked the card is, we want competitive fights on a big bill not warm up glorified spar's. Don't give us some shit about Joshua being replaced by Smith fighting for a paper belt as this was always the plan for Smith. At the moment there is 10 fights on the bill with Fielding still looking for an opponent, hopefully they offer Blackledge enough to step in.

I can't wait for Froch vs Groves and my hat's off to matchroom for making it! Also fair play for replacing fighters like Murray with Lee last minute. But it really shouldn't have to come to this. Just please stop the hype over the undercard and admit you have massively ballsed it up and apologise to the fans.

I don't like PPV, think it's a rip off, you pay for sky, then get charged again, allegedly have put bigger fights on without PPV, remember one of the greatest all british world title fights of all time, Eubank/Benn, no PPV then, they take advantage of boxing fans and now the undercard is virtually wiped out, if there was not a grudge between the two fighters, it would be just an ordinary world title fight, but Eddie knows that, that's why he wound up the situation on ringside, suckers! can you dig it suckers.
