Froch is the victim and should retire (or fight Hopkins)
I'm serious. He has given more to the sport than what us as fans can ask for.
I've counted up the number of consecutive Froch fights I've watched either live or on delay without knowing the results. It currently stands at 20, beginning with the Henry Porras fight, and included trips to the York Hall for his bouts against Westerman and Magee. That's more than any fighter I've followed consecutively from the past, present, and probably future.
I'm too old for heroes, but nobody likes to see one of their favoured fighters getting hurt. That's exactly what happened on Saturday night. At times it was uncomfortable to watch. Froch took more punishment in those fights than he did in any of the others and probably in many of them combined. Even afterwards his face was a mess and he was clearly not all there given he had to be reminded of having been heavily dropped in the first round.
The fact that Froch came back from that beating to turn the tide once again and take control against Groves further cements his legacy and famous iron will and iron chin that will immortalise him in British boxing history. Unfortunately the referee robbed him of the finish most of us thought was inevitable, and Groves escaped with the moral victory. Yes Groves had dominated most of the fight. Yes Froch was on the receiving end of the bigger shots and had taken more sustained punishment. But should his name really have been booed after the fight for what was one of the greatest comebacks ever witnessed in a British ring at such a high level?
As far as I'm concerned Froch has nothing to prove. Saturday night was a typical come from behind Froch trademark effort, yet the fans at the arena appear to have misunderstood and were left unappreciative of it.
The calls for the rematch "to prove he is a real warrior" are ridiculous. I genuinely feel a second fight would more than likely go the same way. Froch would have the W on his record, but would also be the loser in that he would take the most damage again, probably taking years off his life in the process and raising a considerable risk of future health problems. I don't want to see that. He has given enough.
Instead, we should be calling for retirement, or a farewell fight with limited health risks, such as one against Hopkins. Although a win wouldn't add a huge amount to his legacy, a stoppage might, and it would give us a chance to say a proper farewell to a legend of the sport and cheer for him as the good guy, rather than push him in as the enemy in a return bout against Groves. Time to put less emphasis on the personality and more on what he has done in and for the sport.

No, the difference between you and I, you prick, is that I've been posting on here for years and have not really had many arguments along the way, as opposed to a simpleton with more than 500 posts of mostly trolling inside one month. Get a life.Groove Armada wrote:You must be a Froch fan boy so I can guess what your post says.
But he should retire if no rematch, he took a hellish amount of full shots on Saturday.
There will be £Millions in the rematch, but he may well retire before George retires him.

Re: Froch is the victim and should retire (or fight Hopkins)
If I was Froch I'd have another couple of fights and just avoid anyone with a serious punch.... If you can do what Froch did over the weekend and come out of it as the villain of British boxing then you should just be looking to grab the easiest money out there and not put your health at risk. He has put it on the line time and time again throughout his career and when he takes his biggest beating of his life against a young lion laying it all on the line one more time the "boxing fans" are still finding fault.
Re: Froch is the victim and should retire (or fight Hopkins)
He's getting slated anyway, why would he give a fuck at this point? Better off taking the easy money against soft opposition and let other people cry about the injustice of it all leaving Groves to make his own way in the sport, which he's going to have to do at some point anyway, isn't he?Groove Armada wrote:I think he should retire. Besides, even if he trashed Groves in a rematch you would be calling it 1-1 and screaming for the rubber match.
Re: Froch is the victim and should retire (or fight Hopkins)
I honestly think groves should go and win another belt then rematch froch, then froch should retire not because he's finished but because his fighting style is bad for his health and id like to see him finish ontop.
As regards to him getting old and his performance being poor which people are saying thats all bollocks, froch fought the same way he always does groves was just exceptional for 6 rounds. JT handed froch his arse for nearly 12 rounds god knows how many years ago and he discovered the same thing - froch is a machine he just keeps going and when your tank empties and you thrown everything at him, he's still there looking to bash you up.

Re: Froch is the victim and should retire (or fight Hopkins)
Its not about what he's given to the sport.
He was gifted the win on Saturday. Everything about the fight was wrong, his fouling and the ref failing to deduct even a single point from him, those horrible scorecards (you'd have to argue he won a single round) and that scandelous stoppage.
Groves has given a lot to the sport to you know. He should not have been treated like that and deserves an immediate rematch. Froch cried for a rematch against Kessler and praised the man repeatedly when he got it. The boots on the other foot now, i'm very intreagued to see how he handles this.
If he retires i'll let him of the hook. If he carries on his next fight better be against Groves or i will lose a great deal of respect for him as i'm sure many, many other fight fans will.

No Freudian slip.... My point was that guys like you are trying to backhandedly call the first fight a Groves win because he was up on the cards and stopped early.Groove Armada wrote:But Carl trades on this 'Warrior' thing. 1-1 if Froch win the rematch? I'm not sure who can watch Froch over the course of his career and refer to his warrior status with inverted commas. And to suggest he 'trades' on it as if suggesting it's merely a clever pr move. He is what he is. It doesn't matter how hard you hit him, nor how many times, nor how much of his health is at stake with each round of a shellacking from a younger, quicker, slicker, stronger fighter who opposes him; he will never surrender. The fact that inside the ring he will never quit makes it all the more important that he takes the decision to quit at the right time outside of it. I think that time is now.

In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who shows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people,[1] by posting inflammatory or [2] extraneous messages in an online community.Groove Armada wrote: 1) You know what I do in the ring.

No offence mate but i'm sure Groves's record wouldnt of been unblemished if he went through the super 6. Im pretty sure he would of had his work cut out against Ward and Dirrell in particular.Groove Armada wrote:99% of fighters are Warriors.Dixonian wrote:I'm not sure who can watch Froch over the course of his career and refer to his warrior status with inverted commas. Re: Froch is the victim and should retire (or fight Hopkins)
The ringside interview did him no favours. That was probably the biggest fight of his career in regards to a UK audience and that's the impression a lot will be left with. He'll never earn the kind of money a fighter like him deserves no matter what Matchroom do, it may be the wrong impression but he just comes across as an extraordinarily arrogant bloke with an extremely large chip on his shoulder.CheckHook wrote:If I was Froch I'd have another couple of fights and just avoid anyone with a serious punch.... He chooses for a living to take part in a sport which requires you to take punches to the head, one fight were Carl Froch looks wobbley and people think "that's it, he's f*cked now, time to retire" have we gone soft on here? F*ck me, my favourite sporting event on the planet usually results in death for a couple of competitors annually and as horrible as it is we just accept it as a risk that comes with it and it's the same with boxing, it's dangerous, you risk serious injury or worse and sometimes it happens, most of the time it doesn't.
