Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
I think from Froch's latest comments, the abuse that idiots are sending him on social media and forums is going to completely blow any chance of a rematch.
George, his Paddy and his Gingerbread man will be looking for other means of income if the bile continues - which won't be at the level he expects given he was TKO'd and is no longer mandatory.
An astute comment was made in the fact that Groves beat James Degale by a cat's whisker - and despite Degale's demands for an immediate rematch, he got his nose rubbed in it and told no.
George might be dealt a worse blow than any knockout, if Carl tells him to piss off and takes away his chance of redemption and a massive pay day.
My feelings is that it should have gone a bit longer, that I'd like to see them fight again. But I'm not so sure it will reading this.

Re: Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
As a Froch fan and from Nottingham too , ive got to say in an open comment to Froch..... STFU and do the rematch, the result is tainted however you look at it, and it doesnt compare to Groves-Degale.
Earn a bit of what would no doubt be better money than this fight was, and earn yourself a bit of credibility back, because the attitude since the bout has stunk the whole of boxing out.
I DO believe you was on your way to a victory, and the ref is the person who has caused the controversy, but stop bitching and get the rematch on rather than ruin your own legacy that you have worked so hard to gain.
You want to be treated like a legend ? well start acting like one then.

Re: Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
Froch loses all credibility for me if he doesn't rematch Groves. If he is such a 'warrior' and was so sure he would have finished GG, he should be desperate to get in there again and leave the world in no doubt that he is the better man.

Re: Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
If I was Froch, I'd be scratching my head at the fact that I've just dug deep to win a fight and now I'm getting loads of stick for it. Two things.
1. Froch didn't stop the fight.
2. Froch genuinely thinks that Groves was finished and he had a better view than anyone.
I'm not saying I don't think there should be a rematch, because I think there should be and I'm convinced it will happen. I really feel like Froch is coming in for some unnecessary flack. Some people might not like him and think he has a 'bad attitude', but that isn't a reason for Carl to be forced into a corner. As far as he's concerned, the fight was stopped a few seconds before he would have finished it.

Re: Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
Froch wants Groves to show humility and be magnaminous in defeat else he'll not rematch him, also he wasn't 100% fit and was always going to win because he's a warrior and an ironman.
I know he's a mate of yours Gomez; what are your other mates like?

Gomez knows his stuff but he's not objective unfortunately. It's understandable but still.palooka wrote:Froch wants Groves to show humility and be magnaminous in defeat else he'll not rematch him, also he wasn't 100% fit and was always going to win because he's a warrior and an ironman.

Re: Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
He was only 80% fit for groves but can't tell us why ! Not interested in the slightest. Fight groves next or I shall not watch him again, he can talk all he wants, he might convince others but not me. Yes he won, but in his heart of hearts he knows it was a hollow victory.
Re: Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
It happen again he wont get the same money elsehwere.
Re: Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
Still seems to think he beat Kessler the first time round and the suggestion Ward should come to the UK is ridiculous. Why should a man who won and has no need for a rematch, be forced to travel for a fight? Kessler shouldn't have travelled and Ward won't, especially since he'll more or less need to win every round or knock Froch out with the way things are going. In short, deluded as ever.
Re: Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
I smelled this coming a mile away. Its a good excuse to get out of the fight if thats really what Froch wants, itsG0mez wrote:I think from Froch's latest comments, the abuse that idiots are sending him on social media and forums is going to completely blow any chance of a rematch.

probably the best option available to him. Tell Gro es his cheek his talked him out of it.
Very clever, but his reputation will still be in tatters if he does not rematch Groves next no matter what the reason for not going through with it.
Re: Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
I said on another thread yesterday that Froch would most likely want Groves to say the stoppage was fair before he would countenance a rematch; Sugar Ray Leonard made Tommy Hearns say the same before he'd agree to a rematch, Froch likes control and dominance, he'll do something similar.
Ward won't come to the UK, he knows he is the best in the division and will not be dictated to by team Froch - he said as much in an interview a few months ago.

Re: Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
George Groves battered him from pillar to post for many rounds and Andre Ward would beat him even easier next time.
Credit to Carl for coming back and almost finishing Groves but Carl has come across like an absolute arrogant pudendum since the fight, tell him to stop it Gomez. He is alienating his fans.

Re: Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
This is just my opinion.....
I don't think Froch believes he was about to end it. His post fight interview was too defensive. He was talking in the midst of a chorus of boos (which he himself laughably referred to as 'a few people booing') and seemed in denial of what had just happened. If he was so sure that the referee had deprived him of the sublime glory of a time capsule-friendly kick-ass comeback I reckon he'd have been a lot more indignant than he was in the immediate aftermath.
Only my thoughts. I expect Kenney Jones with a Headache to vehemently disagree.

Re: Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
No one wanted to see Groves DeGale 2 : the first fight wasn't exactly box office.
Everyone wants to see Froch/Groves 2. - BIG difference
and Carl will be laughed out of town if uses hurt feelings as an excuse.

Re: Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
I actually think the most deluded part of the interview is Carl expecting Ward to rematch him in the UK. The first fight was so conclusive theres no need for a rematch and certainly no need for Ward to travel.
Re: Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
And also Groves v Degale, whilst close and debatable, was fair. Nothing controversial about it. George owed James nothing after that fight.MightyWarrior wrote:No one wanted to see Groves DeGale 2 : the first fight wasn't exactly box office.

Re: Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
You have to laugh.TD – If you guys were to fight again, it’s likely it will start over again, don’t you think?
CF – Of course he would, because he’s childish.

Re: Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
I have to agree, not dead keen on that interview, some of the points he makes are valid and some of them aren't but it really doesn't come across well to the general public.Final round wrote: Credit to Carl for coming back and almost finishing Groves but Carl has come across like an absolute arrogant pudendum since the fight, tell him to stop it Gomez. End of the day everyone thought the stoppage was too soon and I know he will feel stung by the booing and criticism from the fans but interviews like that will do Carl no favours whatsoever.

Re: Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
The only reason why Ward would fight Froch again is because of the lack of challengers to him at super middle and the fact that Froch is clearly number 2 in the division.vargas wrote:I actually think the most deluded part of the interview is Carl expecting Ward to rematch him in the UK. I can't see it happening again, unless Ward is made a ridiculous offer for the fight. Ward don't need Froch, he has already settled that argument.
The best option for Froch? Rematch Groves and beat him. If he wins and its conclusive, well, I know what I would do after that if I was so upset at the recent backlash...up yours, see ya!
Re: Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
Yeah it is a bit pathetic of him tbh. 'Children' in my mind do things like refer to a persons breath and insult their clothing.mrbishi wrote:You have to laugh.TD – If you guys were to fight again, it’s likely it will start over again, don’t you think?

Re: Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
In fairness to Froch taking a rematch with a likely improved Groves is pushing the risk/reward right out of the window. This approach at least can push Groves to make financial concessions for it to happen and gets people pushing Hearn/SKY to make it happen.
Saying that, Froch had to take the first Groves fight as they had no better option. Who else is out there, let alone would generate a decent payday or better risk/reward? Ward already covered. Kessler is all but retired. Golovkin not moving up any time soon. Stieglitz is no major draw and would want paying to fight outside Germany, if he'd even take the fight at all. Apart from that it's a bit of a wasteland, maybe the younger Dirrell but that's likely even worse risk/reward.

Re: Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
Fair play to Froch, he's dead right. If Groves is going to continue a campaign to turn the public against him and continue to try to discredit his win, then he doesn't deserve a rematch. I would also be pissed if I was in his position. Fact is he won the fight. Early stoppages and bad decisions happen in this sport. It's unfortunately but that's boxing.
I really don't want to see a Ward rematch and would rather a bout with Hopkins, but Froch has earned the right to do what he likes and choose to fight whoever he feels like fighting. He has given more in the ring than any British fighter in memory. Let's hope the young up and coming kids see him as an inspiration and want to train as hard as him and seek out the toughest challenges for themselves, just as he did.

Re: Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
"Alienating his fans".... Are those the same fickle people that boo'ed George into the ring, then Boo'ed Froch out if it for doing his job and forcing the stoppage ?
The sort of people that are a bit sad and post 1'000's of abusive posts in a single calendar month on little forums , because they are spotty little nerds with neither a wife or life ?
I don't think he will be overly concerned which side they are cheering as long as they buy a ticket or the PPV.
