Is Froch's boxing ability underrated?

Now he's gonna be the slickest boxer going but I actually think that some underrated his boxing ability. He seems to get tarred with the "slugger/brawler" brush a lot when he's a guy who primarily boxes behind the jab. Yeah he get's reckless at times and get's all off balance and leaves himself open but anyway, yeah I think he's a better boxer than some give him credit for. Discuss......

No I don't think it's underrated at all. When he fought a powerful but very one dimensional Abraham he could box a bit more because Abraham was to slow and just likes to fight in bursts. If you look beyond that fight he throws wild punches from the hip leaves his chin exposed and doesn't always use footwork to get close he just rushes in and just shows us that boxing wise he's not great but as a fighter he is exceptional

Amateur world champion medalist. The lad has pedigree although in more recent years has decided to slug it out.

Gomez if you see this, i'd genuinely interested to hear your take on this question. You see Carl close up on a far more regular basis than the vast majority of us on here. This isnt a trick question to bait you either. You are a guy that's good at reading fights and fighters so objectively what would you say in regards to the question?

The jab is excellent, but there are so many technical mistakes in there. He carries his hands far too low for someone who doesn't have the reflexes to pull it off and just charges in without using his feet properly, at times, because his feet are so slow, he throws punches, then moves his feet into position to throw, this pushes the upper body forward, leaving the chin over or beyond the front foot and wide open to counters, he gets away with that because of his chin, but that won't last forever. If he wasn't as tough or heavy handed as he is, he wouldn't have had half the career he's had.

Haha admittedly I look silly now I know. Umm when I said underrated before I meant in terms of him being a pure brawler. I know he's not the slickest guy by a long shot and Groves exposed that for sure.

Na you don't look silly mate. It's your opinion. I think he has now been shown to be just an exceptional fighter/brawler. If he had just his boxing ability to rely on I'm not sure he would of made it to British level
