barry by stoppage in the later rounds ,mcguigan would have been to busy and had more weapons,i don`t think cowdell could match his intensity round after round

Cowdell by unanimous decision, no doubt about it. Cowdell was a great marathan runner in his spare time and lost a split decision to Salvador Sanchez on the road.

Proper fighter, not at all protected.

Very close. One of my dream matchups as a kid.

I once emailed Barry about it when he was doing some time on SKY web site. He didn't reply. In all fairness, he'd already replied to an email about Roy Jones so he'd given me enough of his time

Pat is a bit of a forgotten fighter. In these days of WBO and a more established IBF…I think Pat might have had a great chance at a belt. Sanchez and Nelson were 2 of the greatest feathers of all-time.

I’m not sure who would win. Barry really struggled if he couldn’t fight going forwards. Pat would not have pushed him back… But Pat liked his opponent to come to him.

I’d favour Barry…but not by much. Maybe a late knockdown wins Barry a split decision. I would not bet a penny on this fight. Too close to call.

Pat was one of my favourite fighters.
