i don't call for any head or any action beyond
the protection of my threads from BS. i find
it totally unacceptable that someone is allowed
to jeopardize conversations of others and honestly
speaking i do not understand how anyone would
not agree with that.

No, luckily I'm back on ignore so Man won't have to suffer anymore. If he was actually capable of ignoring someone, he just clicks off ignore and reads every post anyway, this sorry ass thread wouldn't exist. Setting deadlines to preserve his epic threads? This guy needs to just bounce. I'm all for keeping that shit out of the other threads. If you have an overrated/underrated thread, you know what's coming. I've never seen Duce 'hijack' a thread by himself. Someone encourages him and nobody complains about whomever that is.

Wow, I just looked at that thread. This is even bitchier than I originally thought. Nothing resembling a 'hijack'. Carlos nailed it, ban Man.

Now now....have I used my authority over you? Who has been a greater defender of your right to be a full fledged intermittent 5 Pinnocchio contributor?

Though I do reserve my right to consolidate, any and all contributions via my annual BOTP inventory evaluation.

Besides the obsessiveness over Ali and that he constantly makes stuff, I think something that irks some people is that he brings up Ali when Ali has little or nothing to do with the subject. For example, there was a thread started about whether Johnny Tapia should be in the Hall of Fame.
He made the comment "If Muhammad Ali can get in, so does Johnny Tapia."

(That is an actual quote from Il Duce, not something I made up.)

Nobody should be banned for merely having an opinion.

Opinions are like backsides; we all have one & some of us talk out of them, but that doesn't mean to say we should be banned if we do (BTW, I'm not saying Il Duce talks out of his arse).

Il Duce does seem to have an irrational dislike of Ali, but that is his prerogative.

I'm sure Ali won't be losing any sleep over it, as he has nothing to prove to Il Duce or anyone else for that matter.

How do some of you handle television programs, newspapers or magazine articles that you find objectionable?
Do you repeatedly call for a ban simply because the material doesn't uphold your view or agenda?
Let Il Duce rant on about Ali all he wants.
Let those who disagree rant on in reply all they want.
And let those who simply are bored by this ongoing matter just ignore it.
This is cyberspace and this forum or any other forums in it don't belong to any one individual. It belongs to all and that includes Il Duce and all his detractors.

Yancey I am going for line 5 of your comment. . He is deliberately writing new inciteful things purely for the attention as he(she?) knows that the more controversial and against the grain he writes the more people challenge . However he is never accountable for his lies, he has no self respect so there is zero point in questioning him on his views. If he gets found at lying he just avoids the subject. Pointless really...except for the Ali haters to wipe his backside...I will do my best to ignore ignore ignore. I have emailed the GOAT website to make them aware of what is being written. . interesting if they take note.

By the same token, certain posters deliberately target his posts in other threads and are equally as confrontational. I'll say it again, pop in on CS for a minute. If being wrong is a terminable offense, there is literally 100 guys over there that have to go.

Duce has his moments though where he is a top notch poster and never gets credit for it.

I posted a question about an obscure guy named "Donnie Meloncon" who once came to Indy and blasted out world-class Gary Guiden that nothing was known about. Within a day or two, Duce had dug up info on the guy's amateur career, detailed fights not listed on BoxRec and posted accompanying news clippings as proof and even gave a firsthand account of the guy's fighting style as he had seen him fight once. No one else on the ESB board could offer a peep of help on that thread.

He also entered a debate on the whole "Ayala schooled Cuevas in the gym". Duce pinned down the date Ayala Sr. claimed it happened and posted the proof, showed that the supposed sparring session was literally days before a Cuevas defense in L.A, and spanked Ayala Sr's claims that Cuevas "couldn't find or afford sparring partners" otherwise by posting articles that showed Cuevas used a regular stablemate as his prime sparring partner for years who traveled with him and fought on the undercards. He debunked the claim convincingly, as for it to have happened as Ayala Sr stated, Cuevas would've had to be trolling the plains of Texas desperately looking for free sparring with a high dollar defense in L.A (an obvious hotbed of boxing where sparring partners were in abundance) literally days away, which is a ridiculous premise all the way around.

While the Ali-threads probably are provocative in intent, he has been a strong contributor and deserves respect for it.

Let me stop you right there Dart.

He was banned from ESB for just that ie making stuff up and claiming to have witnessed it.

Giancarlo,

I hear ya, but I doubt he made up seeing an obscure main event in Phoenix involving two hardly knowns and backed it up with the newspaper clippings. He has had his moments. I think the main problem at ESB was a braindead with the handle "Lord Tywin" who never contributed one thing to any thread except to follow Duce around and troll him.

I may be wrong, but Senoire Duce seems to be a knowledgable boxing poster. He is clearly a wind-up artist on Ali. Everybody should know that by now and either read his Ali posts or not. I usually take them for what they are. We have other wind-up artists, like Tunney, who starts random anti-African- American threads on CS and nobody is calling for his ban because people know his biases and his general lack of subtlety. Same with some of the other oddball thread-starters. Frankly, I miss Ol' TML for the levity he brought to the place.

Problem for me is this...he's a good writer, and he drops off some interesting stuff. But unless I go to work after he spouts off, I have no idea if what he is saying has any basis in fact. I've found that some does and some does not.....and I guess it keeps me on my toes not to just take what he writes at face value.

I will admit...I will look up the stuff I disagree with.....and am a lot more gullible on the items I "feel" are probably true. lol

my point is simply this: when you start a thread
you want to talk about a certain subject. of course
things can divert to other things, that's the nature
of a board. but i find it annoying to start a thread
and see it going into a totally predictable direction,
just because one guy cannot stop to troll the very
same thing day in day out where ever he can.

it's ridiculous to ban someone for that. but it is
equally ridiculous to accept behavior that is usually
not allowed on playgrounds for all children above
two.

i like this board, i like this community and the idiots
that come along with it are just the inevitable
byproduct of a global web-forum. but maybe someone
here will find the brains and tell benito to hold back
ruining other people's toys.

Yancey...with due respect I ask ; Do you defend Il Duce because of your mutual hate of Ali?
