people are massively overreacting cos the fight was only five minutes ago

benns legacy hasn't been tarnished cos of the gift he got vs malinga the first time around,

how many gifts did eubank get ffs? Every1 still loves them and they didn't even face the most dangerous domestic fighter, at least carls fought his backyard rival [when he didn't have to I may add].

I remember every saying the dirrell fight would forever be a cloud over his career and that's only really mentioned as an aside now.

If he fights chavez and looks good then I think he will sail off into the sunset with his reputation in tact.

Difference is that Dirrell was hidden away on a porno channel...Groves was in the mainstream. If Dirrell had been seen by more than 10 viewers things may be different

Froch is on the BBC site saying he wants a fight in Vegas yet. Says he doesn't need to knock Groves out again(?)

Doesn't care about the money (that old chestnut) and would like a fight against Ward or Chavez Jnr

Thats he doesn't care about the money... but wants to fight Chavez Jnr

Fair play to the old man. I'd love to see a rematch but at the same time I wouldn't hold it against Froch to bow out with a big Vegas fight and Groves can definitely come again. His stock has risen massively after last weekend and is a 20 fight 25 year old, loads of career ahead of him.

I would wet myself if JCC Jnr got the decision over in Vegas or Texas.

I think Carl knows that he's not quite got the old magic any more, and doesn't fancy risking a loss to Groves - a loss to Ward won't affect his legacy much.

I'm a bit dissapointed in Carl, he's going to look like a bit of a bitch after this.

I don't think he will look like a bitch, that's silly. He's a machine who came back from a severe knockdown and sustained beating to break down George groves. Hardly bitchy.

Tom; Froch is flesh and blood, he is not a machine - he did get a sever knockdown and a sustained beating but he didn't break Groves down - Foster saved Frochs career and his sanity (as it is); if Groves had won (he should have been way up on the cards) Froch would have been depressed for years over it - the way he put Groves down beforehand.

Or as many people also think, Foster saved Groves from being stopped seconds later. He deserved the chance to recover no doubt, but Froch was on him and it's what Froch does best. We will never know but Froch was hard done by here too, hes the one taking shit when really he came back from a punch that would finish most other SMW's along with about a dozen more hard right hands. 20 seconds longer and we're asking "has Groves got the chin for world level?" "has Groves got stamina issues" both of which i think are false but that's how fickle a lot of boxing fans seem to be.

It's like groundhog day.

Froch was gonna stop him after a valiant fight put on by Groves.

He isn't a 12 round fighter, whereas Froch is a 15-round fighter.

And for all of Groves other gifts, that is the deal breaker.

Groves was a real revisionist on ringside, Froch was tired, he was this and that - he was all over Groves who was sagging into the ropes. Groves is subtly very good at getting people on his side and dancing to his tune. But he is mistaken. He was spent and Froch was setting about him.

And Carl truly is an international superstar at getting people offside! No matter how much you spin it, you know no better than anyone else on here how the fight would have ended. You know the rematch needs to be made. Chavez Jr? Why? Because he's crap and sells tickets. I could cope with Ward but it would be a serious error for Carl. He's already lost the few of the fans he had in the general public, he has a chance to win them back in a winnable fight.

It's funny how Groves comes out of this smelling of roses. Fact is that he had the best start imaginable yet couldn't put away his man, and in the end it was he who was getting bashed up.

Who was laughing at Froch on Ringside and asking him if he was about to cry?

Who started crying during their interview at ringside after the fight?

Who was filmed crying after the fight during a reconciliation with Booth?

Let's focus on the facts. Froch won, Groves cried.

Thought they'd done away with that years ago.

Lets be honest, Froch was utterly dismissive of Groves' chances before -'a domestic level fighter' and if Foster had shown some consitency - Froch was hurt far more through the bout than Groves was - he'd have stopped the bout aerlier in Groves' favour. There is an outcry for a reason and it is not because Groves has hypnotised people, it's because of what was seen, the stoppage was premature and Froch - strong finisher or not - was in trouble + for all the shite he spouted after the bout he ought to give his head a shake.

Can't understand any Froch abuse, save it for Howard Foster  (who's usually a very good referee)

The rematch is mega-fight now, it's the Benn-Eubank of our generation IMO

Lets hope Carl's got one more outing in him

Carl probably feels like Apollo Creed did after the Rocky Balboa fight. Everyone saying he’s a chump. It’s history repeating himself…

At least Apollo didn’t have to put up with keyboard warriors.

Lol, thanks for that, I had thought Carl was manufactured at the Audi factory in Germany, how wrong was I.

He did break George down though, and then stopped him. Groves landed at least three to one, but he felt Carls one a lot more. It was over for George, in the ninth IMO or soon after. He wasn't going to survive.

I honestly think you hate Froch so much you can't see or hear anything positive about him.

Well remembered.

That was a bad decision, but it rarely gets a mention in the great boxing robberies.

If I was Froch and I was offered the chance to fight Chavez Jnr in the States, I'd take it. Fight Chavez and then rematch Groves.

I have to be honest, if I was Froch it's what I'd do. Jr is a high reward, low risk fight to take. He'll make serious wedge. Then do the Groves rematch. George will probably have a belt of his own then so the rematch will be bigger still
