Well said mate. Froch has got to be thinking about his financial future. Even if, god forbid, Froch dropped a decision to Chavez, I still think the Groves match would still be a very big fight.Newport Daz wrote:I have to be honest, if I was Froch it's what I'd do. I don't see how Chavez beats Froch. I didn't think George would do as well against him either though. Chavez Jnr will make Froch look like Alexis Arguello.

Who started crying during their interview at ringside after the fight?
Who was filmed crying after the fight during a reconciliation with Booth?
Let's focus on the facts. Froch won, Groves cried.
It all started way before then at the first press conference.
Froch - Your breath stinks
Froch - taking the pee out of Groves trousers
Froch - Your getting knocked out, Your not at my level, He went on, and on and more.
Hand on heart in my opinion, Carl Froch really got under George Groves skin and showed no respect what so ever,
Come Ringside, George Groves decided to dish it out himself, What hurt Froch more than anything was when he said ..
In his mind Dirrell beat him and has lost few times.
At the end of the day ' Don't dish it out, If you can't take it.
Much as I respect Carl Froch as a fighter, He loves to dish it out, But I'm sorry to say can not take it.

Chavez is crap by the has a solid chin can punch and will outweigh Froch by 20lbs on the night.
Not what Froch needs.
Groves vs Chavez I say!
Groves can stop hm.
Froch took a frightful beating against Groves and will not want that again.
Put miles on the clock that night and will be destroyed in a rematch within 3 rounds.

Re: Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
I like the idea of Froch v Chavez then rematching Groves.
Gives George another fight against a top level operator to see if he really is the real deal.
Also gives us a chance to see if Froch has diminished. I mean, he didnt look impressive against Groves, bar his rally and of course, his toughness.
If he struggles with Chavez, time to call it a day.

Chavez jnr is a rough fight for Carl, he eats punches for fun and has clubbing power.

Groves has got fantastic energy levels and gets 2nd, 3rd,4th winds no problem. Against Froch he was on his 1st wind and never got the chance to show everyone HIS amazing durability. Apparently that quality is reserved for Froch only by Howard Foster
Froch didn't go for broke against Ward becuase he knows he would have gassed out and suffered the one thing people think can't happen...Ward would have stopped him. This time Froch did go for broke, BUT Groves was completely diddled by a VERY bad decision and was deprived of the opportunity to put the finishing touches on a great nights work, once Froch had emptied his tank.

In those respects yes but Carl is the polar opposite in attitude, fitness, dedication and ambition and I think he'll beat Chavez down and win on points but it will be brusing!palooka wrote:Final round wrote:Chavez jnr is a rough fight for Carl, he eats punches for fun and has clubbing power.[/quote]

I agree with you and can imagine if he boxes Chavez in San Antonio, El Paso or even in Mexico he'll be up against it - even though they are worlds apart in the attributes you mentioned; I do think though that the Groves bout will have taken an awful lot out of FRoch, it'd be a sahme for me if it were not Groves to capitalise on that and someone like Chavez Jnr makes good on it.
Re: Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
ward wouldn't have stopped him. ward is a pecking puncher and a jab and grabber. groves was punching with conviction, hitting through the target and punching properly (though being more open to a froch rally).THEBUTCH wrote:Groves has got fantastic energy levels and gets 2nd, 3rd,4th winds no problem. froch has been tired late in fights, but no wonder because his fights are so fierce. he has produced many strong rallies (taylor, Kessler 2, pascal) late in contests - something he was beginning to do vs groves...
the abrupt ending pretty much guarantees a rematch of this superb contest that can grow into a great british rivalry. as hearn said, fights are made by demand and there's a demand for froch-groves 2.
chavez jr's a nice cash in for everyone, but he's just not relevant enough.

Froch said some nasty things to Groves; did he expect Groves to wipe his backside for him?
I just never understood why Froch was so wound up by Groves.
Groves never said anything that was truly out of order.
I do have to laugh at Carl's behaviour pre fight.
He is a man who can take tremendous physical punishment, but as soon an an opponent doesn't tell him what he wants to hear, he starts crying like a pre pubescent girl.

bit of an overreaction, that.Final round wrote:George Groves battered him from pillar to post for many rounds and Andre Ward would beat him even easier next time.
Credit to Carl for coming back and almost finishing Groves but Carl has come across like an absolute arrogant pudendum since the fight, tell him to stop it Gomez. He is alienating his fans.
yes, ward likely jabs, grabs and runs to another W.
yes, groves will land more pulverising shots, and froch will either find a way to grind out the win, or not.
two totally different fights.
for me, froch has a massive rivalry in front of him, groves, that ppl in the UK and stateside want to see. do it and don't whine. or don't do it, get mardy, have a tarnished win and don't give the public the fight they want.

in most of ward's fights, he's thrown amateurish, pecking punches. virgil hill or sven ottke-style.
Re: Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
if froch doesn't go for the rematch, it allows him to avoid some serious issues - namely, that he's not got over the super 6, and that he's not fully engaged with his responsibilities as champion (since hammering bute). namely, that he's not taking his top ranked contenders seriously, which was shown in the opening round vs groves, who'd already told froch his gameplan, and then hurt and dropped froch in the opener. had Adonis Stevenson been granted his shot, froch could well have suffered a similar, or even worse, shock than he had vs groves.
froch has a great rivalry ahead of him with groves. rivalries are what boxing's about. you don't turn your back on rivalries. if froch fights chavez jr in America, the fight is neither here nor there. it does nothing for froch's standing in America, and it does nothing for his standing over here. froch should settle whom the best in the UK is. there's a chance that ward could end up at 175; HBO will want him to fight ppl they don't know he can beat (Stevenson, kovalev). ward is very big at 168 and turned pro at 175. froch vs, say, middleweight darling golovkin could be the fight to settle 168 superiority, one day in the near future. froch lost to ward when it mattered, there's no shame being outboxed, he has a terrific career and he should move forward and engage with the issues that are more pressing.

agreed , i don't think chavez is a good fight for froch ,froch took a lot of big shots in the last kessler then more in the groves fight and one thing about chavez is that he's tough it will be another hard night for froch and chavez might just be in the right place at the right time . plus if the fight is close you would guess that chavez would get the verdict

You're right there Steve and if Chavez was in trouble then the ref would let Chavez go on and if Froch got caught he'd jump in (sorry Froch fans, I couldn't resist :) )
Re: Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
if froch doesn't fight groves again he's just going to enhance groves in the public eye, and anoint him as the heir apparent in Britain - instead of settling the serious dispute in the ring.
is groves allowed an immediate rematch with the IBF and WBA rules, though, having suffered an official stoppage? would at least one of those belts not be on the line?
froch - you wanted bute's IBF title, you were punch perfect, you wanted Kessler's bauble, you improved from the first fight, now go in there with the same mindset vs your top challengers, show you can retain your belts without controversy, vs the guys that are gunning for you. engage with your responsibilities as champion, and tackle the public perception (that groves was robbed) HEAD ON. have another great fight, cheer up you'll be paid a lot, and you have a chance to silence team groves (who are saying what anyone would say, in the circumstances) & the doubts of most experts.
or be a cold fish & fight chavez jr whom chances are won't even make the weight and will tarnish the fight completely (something else to be miserable, nay, outraged about). chin up, champ & be positive!
