Does Froch have the right to be very, very bitter?
Just watched the post fight interview and he was desperate for the respect of the Manchester crowd, and it has me thinking that maybe his childish behavior post fight is him being very upset about the lack of respect he gets.
Froch has fought everybody, and has been willing to travel to Denmark, Germany and the States, yet gets booed.
Look at Calzaghe...he spent over a decade fighting tomato cans, and only travelled to the States when Hopkins and Jones were over the hill, arguably losing against Hopkins.
Joe however is treated with total reverence after arguably robbing the public and having a career of smoke and mirrors. Froch has done everything we want, yet gets booed.
If Froch is a bitter bitter man, does he have every right to be?

Seriously, it was the first time I had seen post fight because I was there on the night. He was talking about how both fighters deserved respect, was quite sad actually as he must think his career which has offered so much, gets so little credit, yet Joe who fought no-where near Carls level of fighters is treated as the best thing ever.
Carl now has my sympathy

All he had to do was to say the right things post fight and he wouldn't have gotten booed and he wouldn't have had the comments he's had about on here and everywhere else. It was easy, but he couldn't do it.

Carl strikes me as a very insecure man who has to over-compensate for this by being the big man.SNG wrote:All he had to do was to say the right things post fight and he wouldn't have gotten booed and he wouldn't have had the comments he's had about on here and everywhere else. But i do think he has the right to be bitter
Re: Does Froch have the right to be very, very bitter?
It was something in the build up to the Ward fight that irked me. He asked Ward if he'll be remembered as a legend like him, it just turned me off him as a character. I've never liked him since either to be honest. Tough bastard though, there isn't many at 168 who could have taken what George was giving out for 6 rounds and come through it to seem as though you were turning the tide.thepocketrocket wrote:Carl strikes me as a very insecure man who has to over-compensate for this by being the big man.SNG wrote:All he had to do was to say the right things post fight and he wouldn't have gotten booed and he wouldn't have had the comments he's had about on here and everywhere else. As I said the other day, Joe won Sports Personality Of The Year with very little personality and tucked away on Setanta!thepocketrocket wrote:Just watched the post fight interview and he was desperate for the respect of the Manchester crowd, and it has me thinking that maybe his childish behavior post fight is him being very upset about the lack of respect he gets.

yes I have to agree with you on this point.. he has fought everyone and traveled to any point in the world to have a tear up... I really hope he gives George another shot ... i was just a little upset with his post match interview and his build up of thinking he was to good to be in the ring with George... but if he doesnt want a rematch I understand he was getting beat quite badly ... just hope its not Ward because that would be worse than taking on George....

Hi Spud!
Hey mate, you know full well that I was never a fan of the Calzaghe career! There is a reason though that Froch is becoming a toxic brand, just getting to the bottom of it!
Because if you look at his career, he should have more respect than most of boxrec thinking he is a tool, and the general public thinking he is a nob...yet people will look at your characeter as well as your acheivments when making a judgement call

Just state an opinion rather than pushing your agenda across as a 'question'. Anyone can have an opinion but you are so sly in how you go about it. That's the issue. Grow a pair.thepocketrocket wrote:DMA1987 wrote:And he strikes again.

Not to Groves he does'nt.thepocketrocket wrote:Just watched the post fight interview and he was desperate for the respect of the Manchester crowd, and it has me thinking that maybe his childish behavior post fight is him being very upset about the lack of respect he gets.

I agree with everything you have written, its spot on, but none of it is Groves fault. If he had been more humble towards the lad and assessed the fight from an honest perspective he would not be experiencing the slagging he's getting. The backlash is all down to his recent behavoir pre + post fight. There's nothing else to it i'm afraid.
Froch has been on an amazing run of tough fights, but it gives him no right to behave like a total wan*er. And i'm saying this from a fans point of view. I've really enjoyed the latter half of his career, i've been a big supporter of him, but his arrogant attitude towards Groves pre/post fight + his arrogance to how the fight went and the end result does him no favours at all.
He only has himself to blame.

That is the issue.
He has reacted badly, and only has himself to blame....just getting to the bottom of the reasons as to why he has totally gone to pot. Is he inherently arrogant, or is there a bitterness eating away at him as his career winds down? That is the question

Froch has every right to be bitter, but he just better be careful about alienating the very people that have made him wealthy.
Froch has enjoyed a lot of goodwill from fight fans & he's hugely admired due to his entertaing style, his balls & his desire to test himself against the best, but If he starts feeling sorry for himself because a few people are not happy with his conduct before & after the Groves fight & starts demanding 'respect' from the fans, they will stop paying to go & see him & he won't like that at all.

Carl is a top bloke and yep there is a touch of arrogance about him and if you dont know the guy I suppose you could take him the wrong way - again another thread where my opinion is Carl is a top man and a top world class boxer - also I am willing to bet some of those booing in the arena were too p*ssed to know anything let alone make a sound judgement about the fight.

Re: Does Froch have the right to be very, very bitter?
I've yet to see the post fight interview, but up until this point I've not been offended by anything Froch has said. Groves and his little "are you going to cry?" performance pissed me right off however.
I'm glad Groves lost the fight to be honest, and I wish Froch could have been allowed to finish him off properly.

Too much nasty comments from people towards one another generally I think. We're all *90 %* guilty of it to an extent.
