Re: spoiler Chisora.......
Derry Matthews hilarious there "He looks gone"-yeah no shit, after 2 cheap shots most would look gone...
Re: spoiler Chisora.......
Pala turned his back and stopped defending himself and didn't make any attempt to defend himself even after Chisora hit him in the back of the head. Scott was counted out because he was stupid enough to be on one knee at 9 and then tried to get up and was counted out in the act of rising.
Re: spoiler Chisora.......
Another odd stoppage in The UK. They seriously need to just quit having fights there. Every fight it's some new nonsense. It's pathetic.
Re: spoiler Chisora.......
I think the punishment from his fights with Haye and Vitali have pretty much put paid to the punch resistance he once had. Was wobbled by Gerber and again against Pala tonight. When he steps up in class and continues his style of moving into range with zero head movement taking shots I can only see his resurrection going one way.
Re: spoiler Chisora.......
Pala deserved to get stopped for that.

It didn't seem to me like Pala intentionally turned his back; it looked more like the force of a Chisora right hand 'pushed' him into the corner. I did find it odd how he just stood there with his back turned, but he may have been expecting the referee to momentarily stop the action (which should've happened after Chisora landed a flush shot the to back of the head).

Re: spoiler Chisora.......
x2. Lucky not to get hurt. Chisora might have asked the ref what the f*ck was going on but if the ref doesn't stop it there and then and then Chisora goes and ships a massive shot, what's he going to do, write a letter? Only one of the 3 people in the ring there was at fault.Horse wrote:Pala deserved to get stopped for that.
Re: spoiler Chisora.......
He's trying out new stuff and being overconfident against lesser opponents. Gerber and Pala hit him flush on the jaw with big shots to which he reacted to by taking a few steps back and laughing.dve3333 wrote:I think the punishment from his fights with Haye and Vitali have pretty much put paid to the punch resistance he once had. When one turns his back on his fellow protagonist and the ref in a corner with hands by his side, his mettle is surely challenged?diddy wrote:Another odd stoppage in The UK. They seriously need to just quit having fights there. Every fight it's some new nonsense. It's pathetic.

I don't think he intentionally turned his back.ShadrachSimmo wrote:When one turns his back on his fellow protagonist and the ref in a corner with hands by his side, his mettle is surely challenged?diddy wrote:Another odd stoppage in The UK. A punch may have turned him but did he show much interest in turning around or defending himself?crusader wrote:I don't think he intentionally turned his back.ShadrachSimmo wrote:When one turns his back on his fellow protagonist and the ref in a corner with hands by his side, his mettle is surely challenged?diddy wrote:Another odd stoppage in The UK. Re: spoiler Chisora.......
He was turned for about a second before getting smashed in the back of the head. A lot of times when a boxer gets into a position with his back facing the opponent he'll just wait for the ref to step in.
I don't think he looked unable to continue.

He is too light. He needs to put more weight on. His resistance is going because of it.dve3333 wrote:I think the punishment from his fights with Haye and Vitali have pretty much put paid to the punch resistance he once had. He is just not as robust as before, maybe he has over trained for his body type.
Who knows, he may have burnt good muscle. Ask him.

He isn't light enough.
I can't see how being a fat tub of lard improves your punch resistance.
Thank goodness Chisora has finally handed back his Burger King loyalty card, but it's too late for him.
He should have been in the habit of getting down to a 'proper' weight years ago.
Re: spoiler Chisora.......
Chisora needs to keep taking weight off, then build some more muscle.
Re: spoiler Chisora.......
The opponent can freely punch someone in the back of the head? Can you point me to the rule that permits that?Dead Mouse wrote:If the fighter turns his back, or is turned and just stands there like a big lump, the opponent can punch until the ref halts it. Look at Berbick-Tate for an extreme example of this.
Re: spoiler Chisora.......
Also, this is what Pala had to say about the stoppage and why he didn't turn around immediately:
He was hitting me with a couple of good hooks on the backfoot, but even then I wasn’t really wobbled. Then he sort of sidestepped and I fell over to the corner. I knew that if I had turned myself just slightly back towards him, he’d immediately nail me with his punches. So I said to myself: ‘lean towards the corner, and the ref will stop the action, wait till I can turn myself back, and then resume the fight.’ But just when this idea had crossed my mind, I immediately felt one of his punches on the back of my head, and it hurt like hell. I thought: ‘great, the ref will probably take some points off him for that’, but what did he do? He waved the whole thing off!
Re: spoiler Chisora.......
The ref should have halted the action, warned Chisora for a blatant cheap shot and then waved it back on again.
Instead he did neither.
Pala was hitting Chisora and hurting him often in the opening rounds. He's lost momentum with that weight loss imo.

Re: spoiler Chisora.......
Roll on February and Delboy's "big, meaningful" fight.
The initial announcement will name Deontay Wilder or Chris Arreola, on the day tickets go on sale.
A few weeks later, the promoter will confirm that its going to be Dimitrenko or Tony Thompson.
Two weeks before the show, an unknown but unbeaten novice Italian will be confirmed.
Four days before the show, Martin Rogan will be unveiled.
Derrick will start a bit slow, warm up, and stop Rogie in round 3 or 4. Afterwards, the promoter will say that at the next Copperbox show, Chisora will have a "big, meaningful" fight.
