He was shouting at him in russian after the first knockdown. When he finally flattened him, he was standing over him momentarily yelling something.

That's what I said after watching the double bill. Two very big punchers, I really like Kovalevs style but Stevenson is very talented. Once he realised Bomber couldn't hurt him he just relaxed and let his hands go. There haven't been two light heavyweights as exciting as these two since Spinks ruled the roost.

I'd pick Kovalev as he appears to have better fundamentals but Stevenson is very good just now. I honestly think he was just trying to get a big payday offer from HBO during his post fight interview. This fight will happen. (I fucken hope!)

Has he been in with a real puncher himself yet? We don't really know if he holds a shot as well as he dishes it out, I think Stevenson could short circuit the big Russian with a well placed TNT left hook.

Agreed. Larry Merchant has called on the media and TV companies to stop letting dominant title holders like Stevenson and Ward get away with lucrative top of the bill fights against over-matched opposition. Couldn't agree more.

Larry pointed to Ward calling out Froch after his recent win, or Chavez Jnr. He observed that Ward has well beaten the first guy, and would be a 20/1 favourite if he fought Chavez Jnr.

It is a fair point. Ward is so good, we want to see him with Golovkin, Stevenson or Kovalev, and vice versa.

In fairness to Adonis, Bellew was the mandatory so it had to be done.

Sillakh was looking absolutely fantastic. Really superb movement and looked to have fast hands. Kovalev just half caught him with a clipping shot and the fight was as good as over.

Sillahk's biggest weakness is his punch resistance. He's got a lot of talent but he doesnt hold a shot well at all! Not holding a shot well plus being in with Kovalev is a recipe for disaster!

I have no interest in Kovalev/Stevenson as I would have little doubt Sergey walks right through him. Hopefully the odds are close.

The good thing is, Ward always seems to want to be seen as the best so if he moves to 175 it looks like he would have to get past Kovalev to get that recognition. I think by the time Ward is up there, there will be no hiding from the fact that Sergey is 'the man' and noone would take Ward's claim to be number 1 at 175 seriously until he beats the man.

That wouldn't happen in my view, Kovalev by KO in 9 after Ward goes into survival mode having no way to win the fight!

There's a good video on YouTube breaking down the fight. It shows that while Sillakh looks great bouncing around the ring, he's basically still fighting in an amateur style, wasting a lot of energy.

A lot of people said Sillakh outboxed Kovalev for the first round, but as this guy points out SK basically spends the first round getting his timing to set up the trap and then springs it in the second round.

With this destructive victory in mind, can we maybe say Cleverly is a little bit better than most of us give him credit for?

I mean it was plainly obvious that Cleverly fought the wrong fight from the off against Kovalev, but after witnessing this I think he did well to last as long as he did!

Kovalev is a beast!
