International superstar??
International superstar??
Where does froch claiming to be a international star stem from???
I know groves was saying it & now it's gone viral !!!!
To me groves is a complete dick, he can speak really well & come across as a nice kid, but people don't pick up on his ways. He turnt pro & then starts producing his own merchandise like some international star with the st George tee's . He's made plenty of YouTube stuff calling out & criticising other pro's then he claims he is not disrespectfull. Not to mention saying a 3 time world champion who's just stopped him only options are face him or retire??? He's living in la,la land!!! The dark lord has created an egomania!

Re: International superstar??
I remember Groves after the Degale fight claiming "I'm a pay per view fighter now".
Not quite George.

Re: International superstar??
You think he will be next time if he's not fighting Froch?

No, I was been sarcastic. I don't think Froch will be if he's not fighting Groves, either.Kilburn wrote:You think he will be next time if he's not fighting Froch?
Re: International superstar??
If that's the case then Froch can blame Howard Foster for that. Together with a lack of big name alternatives besides a futile return with Ward.
Not that I'm supporting the PPV concept.

I'd pay for Froch versus Chavez Jnr, Stevenson, GGG, Oosthuizen or Groves. I might buy a fight vs Degale, but hell would freeze over before I'd pay to watch Hopkins fight, he's duller than the paint work and ten year old car.
In fairness to the International Star comment. He's one of two names Adonis Stephenson called out, so he must be doing well.

I think its more to do with him beating Bute that has made him well known in Canada.TJ77 wrote:He has belts that will get you called out.keithmoonhangover wrote:I'd pay for Froch versus Chavez Jnr, Stevenson, GGG, Oosthuizen or Groves. Gavin Rees is well known in Wales and England but doesn't put it about that he's an international star.

Re: International superstar??
The super six was global & ward is the USA poster boy Olympic gold medalist they cling dearly to. Plus he defeated an unbeaten pascal who went on to blast his way through 12-7 & become a name fighter & then ruin bute who was highly rated & known through out .
Hopkins knows froch & has mentioned him several times same as ward & Adonis. Carl froch is world renowned

You mean other world championship title holders know him? That's not the same as being world renowned and even further from being an international superstar. It's not surprising that other class boxers know him and mention him in the hope of making good money in the UK; he'll not be endorsing aftershave in Mexico or golf clubs in Malibu will he? That's what a superstar does - Mayweather is a superstar, Manny is a superstar, Canelo (even after losing widely) is a superstar, Cotto is just under that level but way ahead of Froch, who is a good champion but not best in his division and the recipient of a highly contentious stoppage and a highly inflated view of himself.
Re: International superstar??
Froch don't know how to articulate himself as groves has pointed out. I guess he means in boxing terms he is a known & respected commodity in the fight game& fighters don't call out people for peanuts.

Your dislike of Froch is getting the better of you mate. Froch is a player on the world stage, no question. His stoppage of Taylor got him a lot of attention. He's beaten Pascal and Bute and is on the radar for fighters in the states and Canada. He's Britian's #1 rated boxer, like him or not.

The person who quoted me ballsed up the quotes; I don't dislike Froch, I do not know him personally - only through his media presence and pronouncements some of which are silly and bizarre, I've no issue with his resume and agree he is the British No 1; he is not an International Superstar though and his last win was a contentious stoppage

I'm not sure about the Super bit, but he's defo an International Star.palooka wrote:The person who quoted me ballsed up the quotes; I don't dislike Froch, I do not know him personally - only through his media presence and pronouncements some of which are silly and bizarre, I've no issue with his resume and agree he is the British No 1; he is not an International Superstar though and his last win was a contentious stoppage
Re: International superstar??
The irony is Froch is probably more well known outside the UK than he is within.
When the Super Six kicked off there was no UK TV deal. The tournament was televised pretty much world wide. Most of his early fights where either on PPV internet stream or on PPV TV channel Primetime Live. Whilst the die hard boxing fans knew where to go to watch him, most casual fans had no idea the tournament was taking place until SKY stepped in towards the end.
