Mark flanagan Vs Andrew Green
Mark flanagan Vs Andrew Green
This fight has been announced for early next year. It will be on the first Fox card for the year apparently.
Should be a cracking fight.
Should be a cracking fight.
Re: Mark flanagan Vs Andrew Green
Good scrap. Both up to cruiser and good to see both boys take the risk.
Re: Mark flanagan Vs Andrew Green
Really happy Andy has this opportunity. Should be a competitive bout.

Of bigger concern, is where will the fight be held, if it's in Qld, its a worry, I think he's very brave coming here, if recent events, are any standard to go by.
Re: Mark flanagan Vs Andrew Green
I believe it will be on the east coast. Qld is a concern, so hopefully it can be Melbourne or Sydney, or better still Andy can take it out of the judges hands - No disrespect to Mark, i reckon this bout could go either way.kylamy wrote:amwsnw wrote:Really happy Andy has this opportunity. Re: Mark flanagan Vs Andrew Green
I'd be happy if it were Qld. I'll be there for sure unless it were Townsville.
Re: Mark flanagan Vs Andrew Green
I'd say it'll be Brisbane, promoted by Angelo Di Carlo

Awesome be there for sure. Hope your right.AntonS wrote:I'd say it'll be Brisbane, promoted by Angelo Di Carlo

Angie has been his promoter in dizzy Brissy & I doubt Fox would venture far north (due to logistics). Can't see it happening at Melb Pavilion - Amatruda has taken a holiday 'til mid Feb.fox wrote:Awesome be there for sure. Mark Flanagan is a quality fighter, He has a terrific trainer and, together they're a very very good team. I doubt he gets stopped by Andy, infact i truly think it's a hard ask for Andrew, and an even harder ask, if the fight is in Brisbane, if past performance is any barometer.amwsnw wrote:I believe it will be on the east coast. Anyway, well done to him and his team for taking the fight, It will be a damn good fight, and very good matchmaking by Angelo, so lets just hope, bad officiating does not spoil the event, I look forward to this fight.
Re: Mark flanagan Vs Andrew Green
Yup Bradley, I share your concern. I can't believe Sydney based Filipinos won more fights on points in Bananaland than anywhere else in Oz
Re: Mark flanagan Vs Andrew Green
What do you mean by bad officiating mate. I know I been away from the pro fights for a while but I always thought they were okay. They don't seem to be any different from other states. But maybe I missed something.

Mark Flanagan has the skills to beat any boxer in Australia.Hes a true Gentleman and a great boxer. If he only live in any one of the capital citys we would see a lot more of him
Re: Mark flanagan Vs Andrew Green
Just sour grapes 'cos he's no longer in local ANBF mixfox wrote:What do you mean by bad officiating mate. I know I been away from the pro fights for a while but I always thought they were okay. They don't seem to be any different from other states. But maybe I missed something.

For anyone who missed it:

Flanagan looked a proper-sized cruiserweight while Green looked like a light heavyweight. There was 1.8kg between them on the scales but I think it was nearer 10kg in the ring.
Green needs to be more disciplined with keeping his hands up or KOs like this will happen again. I think he's best off sticking to light heavyweight from now on as well.

Re: Mark flanagan Vs Andrew Green
Post was made in December '13 - I went grave digging for this topic.
Re: Mark flanagan Vs Andrew Green
Green is back to Ltheavy. Unless he took on a substantial weights and "Supplement" program he can't compete at cruiser.
There was probably over 10 kgs in the ring. Green was lighter than his weighin weight come fight time.

Re: Mark flanagan Vs Andrew Green
I would be shocked if he put on 8.2 kgs between weigh in and fight night.

Re: Mark flanagan Vs Andrew Green
I'm not sure about that Dan h. I know of a cruiserweight here in Perth. Who makes 90.7. And is up to around 95-96 by the time he goes to bed that night. And is up to around 97-98 by fight time the next night.
So it's not uncommon for bigger guys to put on considerable weight after weighin.

Re: Mark flanagan Vs Andrew Green
With relatively new re-hydration science it's not unheard of for cruiserweights and LHW's to put on 8-10kg from weigh in to main event, in fact, look at some of the light weight-super welters now fighting for world titles, some of them are putting on 8+ kg's from weigh in at 5pm or less to main event at 11 pm fight night. That's more than 10%

Re: Mark flanagan Vs Andrew Green
Flanagan looked two divisions heavier than Green in the ring.
Hopefully it'll be Ammann, Aloua or Pitt next time round.
8/6/13 Erislandy Lara V Alfredo Angulo L/Middle.
Lara weighed 164lbs and Angulo 174lbs on fight night.
Although it didn't help Angulo with the result.
Mundine will probably have a similar advantage when he fights Clottey.
Hope he [Mundine] suffers the same fate.

Clottey is a known drainer - he was 170lb in the ring against Corrales after weighing in at 149lb.
