It's not for me to say, no chance he needed to cheat or would cheat to win that or any fight. Very sad to read this ... Being dreading it coming out but that's life I suppose.

Are there any answers ? If not, then why not ?

As a governing body, if they are going to test and ban boxers for taking whatever they deem to be "illegal" substances then surely the BBBofC must have a written rule or something as to how to deal with it ?

As athletics have a rule that the record is amended and the other athletes re-categorised, then the BBofC need to come up with something.

Whatever that "something" is, some will agree and others will disagree, but at least it is clear and transparent exactly what that something is - even if it is just retrospectively ruling the fight a no contest (or more controversially, awarding the fight to the other boxer - now that would be interesting .......)

At the moment, who knows ?

Apart from the above, this whole process seems to have taken a very long time, and also whatever process seems to have been conducted in such a way as to brush this under the carpet.
In an ideal world the drug cheat would be identified before the fight has actually happened. Random drug tests in the lead up to the fight. A positive test can be identified within 24 hours, but needs to be sent for further analysis. As soon as a positive test is identified the fight should be called off immediately. Within a few days all "illegal" substances should have been identified. It could be a nightmare with fights being called off on the day.
The board don't have the money to do loads of random drug testing, but I see no reason why they can't get BADA to do it. Even if they couldn't do random tests, for title fights there's check weigh ins, so why not have drug tests done at all of them.

I don't imagine that he'd have needed to cheat to have beaten the Robin that was 20 years older than turning pro but if there's a banned substance in his post fight sample then it needs explaining how it got there - if it were a downer or something that would negatively affect a performance then maybe not so much; I liked to watch Anderson and he really did seem an intelligent man; it's a shame and I hope that someone who knows the score will feel able to let people know what has happened.

Exactly. Don't most drug cheats deny it.

a 2 year ban.... I cant imagine that was purely for taking a bit of speed or something similar. You'd get a ban for those substances but i cant imagine it would be that long.

He passed drugs tests in commy games and for pro fights including groves fight, so good chance his story is right that he did get spiked for the one fight. would have loved to have seen him in with smith, fielding ect.

He is claiming his coffee was spiked. That to me suggests he knows how and when the incident took place.

Even if he was genuinely spiked, and was the victim of someone being a total arse, he had the power to take control of the situation. He could have spoke to his trainer, promoter or even the board directly straight away to explain what happened to him. Sure the fight would have been called off, and he'd probably have got a slap on the wrist, but it would have turned out much better for him than the situation he's currently in.

A lot of athletes that have failed drugs tests have passed them before. Does that mean that there is a good chance that they all were spiked?

It struck me as a peculiar absence - and i know your close to him and would vouch for him.

Im for one interested Jeff for what it's worth, but appreciate if you cannot go further into it.

I would add that right now, it sounds like a really flimsy excuse - but I will keep an open mind.

Am I right in saying that Anderson was found to have taken amphetamine sulphate which as I understand it is a Class B drug , never mind whether its performance enhancing or not, it's an illegal drug. Just so people know the punishment for supplying a class b drug is imprisonment for up to 7 years.
Forget the idea of how it effects his performance , he had taken an illegal drug , for goodness sake.
He's a disgrace to all clean boxers - somebody spiked his coffee , my backside!

Calm down ; no one is saying he has supplied anything and he wasn't found to have taken anything knowingly; he provided a sample that tested positive with metabolites for amphetamine.

He is disputing having taken them knowingly and people do ingest drugs unknowingly.

(Many people take illegal drugs - it doesn't make them monsters - they are a part of the modern world (and were a part of the ancient world); you normally take sense but seem a bit shrill on this topic).

Very disappointed in Kenny. He claims his drink was spiked which is a pathetic f#cking excuse. :witzend:

The one thing he has going for him is that boxing is the most forgiving sport in the world for drugs cheats. Tarver and Mosley are both cheats and as far as I'm concerned all of their achievements are suspect but will most likely get into the hall of fame . In other sports your virtually regarded as a leper. In boxing it's just swept under the carpet, dismissed or ignored. You get juiced in boxing you could potentially beat a guy to death who's playing fair. It's a disgrace and they should all be barred for life but 1-2 years is the norm and then it gets pretty much wiped from the history books. BY all accounts MMA is just as bad. A farce really.

We used to get base when we were kids it was a paste not a powder and came in different colours, red orange. It was really strong.

That's the stuff :TU: ; the scary thing is that that has been reduced from the pure rock base which is like set plaster; the paste base does the trick well enough.

Speed and acid are kid's drugs. To somebody who's never done drugs, that sounds like a weird statement. But you can only do those drugs when you have no responsibilities, no real worries. They're cheap and, if you know the right people, stupidly strong and take forever to wear off. I will never touch either again. I have too much to do.

I can't get my head round why Kenny Anderson would be positive for speed. It's out of your system within like 48 hours in a urine test, and he isn't 15. What's up with that?
