You can't!
Wary is not the same as bottling.
I love that gif
Re: Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
But that isnt really accurate, is it? It is pretty much widely accepted by the majority of fans, pundits and reporters that the fight was prematurely ended and that the stoppage was wrong.keithmoonhangover wrote:BLASTER100 wrote:Froch was and hurt like never before and George is only going to get better.
Groves was hurt like never before, that's why the ref stopped it you clown.
Groves were certainly tiring, but Froch didnt have Groves hurt like Groves had Froch hurt in the first round.
Simple way to settle the ambiguity and uncertainty is for the score to be settled and the rematch to be made.
Despite Froch's great ring achievements, if he dodges a rematch with Groves, he will ultimately tarnish his legacy with a large portion of British fight fans.

I think the title of this thread says it all. Froch will do what he wants to do that. If Groves is as good as a lot of people are making out, he should fight Ward or Robert Stieglitz and then fight Froch in a unification and earn more money.liamlion wrote:Simple way to settle the ambiguity and uncertainty is for the score to be settled and the rematch to be made.

The fight is at its most valuable right now. Its irrelevant if George has a belt or not. And I suspect you know Ward would hammer him.keithmoonhangover wrote:I think the title of this thread says it all. Froch will do what he wants to do that. Froch won't be fighting again 'til the summer and I firmly believe that he'll fight Groves, but it's bollocks when 'fans' think they can decide who he fights next.mickey1975 wrote:The fight is at its most valuable right now. Froch did his job, forced the stoppage - End of.
Go look at the poll, it says double the people think Froch would have won if it wasn't halted in round 9.
Not even close, not slightly more- but twice as many.
And even more telling is that those that chose Groves to win, chose "by points" and hardly none chose "By KO" at that point - this big "puncher" and not even his cheerleaders felt that was even an option at that point in the fight.
So the comment about "Froch was hurt more in round 1" is pure bollocks, because he was bone dry and burned about 5 calories by that stage of the fight. He was shocked but physically he was tip top.
Groves is a front runner, his face when he came out for round 9 is nothing, I repeat nothing like 6 or 7 - he was dog tired and his tank was emptying fast.
All this #RematchOrRetire twitter bollocks makes me laugh. Who is he to state that? If he didn't score that knockdown he's be nothing. It would have been excatly as forecast with Groves likely ahead by round 6 due to speed and youth. Before Froch caught up.
The knockdown was a red herring. Remove that and there is your truth, exactly as forecasted by every expert there is.

If there wasn't any fans he wouldn't be getting paid. I don't think he can go on PPV against anyone else and I think he will lose even more respect from the casuals if he avoids Groves. People don't want anyone else, they want Groves.keithmoonhangover wrote:Froch won't be fighting again 'til the summer and I firmly believe that he'll fight Groves, but it's bollocks when 'fans' think they can decide who he fights next.mickey1975 wrote:The fight is at its most valuable right now. I am genuinely amazed by your answer. Do you really and truly believe that there is no need for a rematch despite the more dominant fighter being prematurely and controversially stopped?keithmoonhangover wrote:I think the title of this thread says it all. Yes, Froch was coming on strong at the time of stoppage - but there was nothing that Froch did to justify that stoppage. The referee got it badly wrong.
Groves' next fight has to be Froch and visa-versa for Froch. The fight was an absolute belter and will do great business in the rematch.
Talk of Groves-Ward or Groves-Stieglitz is absurd, irrelevant and nothing more than an attempt to take off the obvious pressure that is growing on Froch for a rematch. No one is saying Groves is the new superstar of the super-middleweight division, but plenty are saying he is more than a match for Froch.
I do agree however that the rematch will ultimately hinge on Froch's desire for it.

Yes mate, but it ain't the fans getting in the ring. Froch's (like any other fighter's) career could be over after his next fight. It's his decision. If he fights Chavez, I'll pay to watch it and the PPV money in the states, if they fight there, mean that Froch could earn serious bucks.mickey1975 wrote:If there wasn't any fans he wouldn't be getting paid. Watch Groves after the stoppage when goes over to the ropes and then walks over to Froch's people. It's almost a minute after the fight was stopped and his legs are still wobbly. When he protested the stoppage, Groves sagged to the ropes. He would have gone down if they weren't there.liamlion wrote: No mate, the fact you choose to ignore the obvious is bollocks.
He was out on his feet when the fight was stopped. Froch was robbed of a classic come from behind stoppage.

Not sure why you've quoted big 'puncher' Gomez he bludgeoned Carl like I've never seen before. Surely the rhetoric from now should be that Groves IS a very hard puncher but Carl Froch still gets up.G0mez wrote:liamlion wrote:

Eddie Hearn shat himself, he said himself he thought it was all over.

tip top? He was all at sea, and was lucky that there wasn't long left in the round!
Anyway I look forward to watching Carl fight again but if it was my choice. I'd go Groves it would be a massive fight. If not Chavez would be a good mesh but avoid Ward, the wrong style
Re: Froch abuse pushing rematch further away
I suggest you watch the knockdown again. It was shocking for the viewers, they all jumped up like WTF - but Froch rode it out nicely.
Came back into it by the mid point then went on to force the stoppage.

We didnt even get the chance to see if Groves was out on his feet!!!!! To claim otherwise with such sincerity is ridiculous and simply not credible.

I just think there has to be a rematch, even if Froch smashes him next time around. Too many missed opportunities in the fight game over the years for great fights. And these two put on an amazing fight. Cant beat ultra competitive domestic showdowns, especially when there is needle.
