:OhYes: not the best comedown is it? A couple of days after you eat everything in the cupboard depressed as hell with the smallest willy in the world and sleep for 16 hours
Speed and acid are kid's drugs. To somebody who's never done drugs, that sounds like a weird statement. But you can only do those drugs when you have no responsibilities, no real worries. They're cheap and, if you know the right people, stupidly strong and take forever to wear off. I will never touch either again. I have too much to do.

I can't get my head round why Kenny Anderson would be positive for speed. It's out of your system within like 48 hours in a urine test, and he isn't 15. What's up with that?[/quote]

A mate of mine done speed once and it seemed to send him a bit mental! I remember we were all in his bedroom playing the playstation or something and he kept staring out the window talking about evil nomes or some crap! Can it have that effect on ya? I've never done anything other than weed. Im mental enough with taking other substances lol.

More details on the story:

http://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/n ... -1-3223163

"Fallen boxer Kenny Anderson claimed his wife spiked his coffee with amphetamines the night before the biggest fight of his life – as she believed him to be having an affair with another woman.

The Evening News can reveal the astonishing defence was submitted to an anti-doping tribunal as he attempted to convince boxing chiefs not to strip him of his British super-middleweight title.

Facing the fight of his life, Anderson, backed by lawyers, compiled a dossier of evidence which was put before sport bosses claiming his wife deliberately spiked him because she feared he was seeing another woman. But the claim was rejected by doping bosses who branded it baseless.

Anderson switched to the “spiked coffee defence” after first countering with claims his signature had been forged on doping control forms – a scenario the sport’s chiefs dismissed as “improbable”.

When twinned with his later spiking claims they said it was tantamount to “lightning striking twice”."

Just so people know the punishment for supplying a class b drug is imprisonment for up to 7 years.
Forget the idea of how it effects his performance , he had taken an illegal drug , for goodness sake.
He's a disgrace to all clean boxers - somebody spiked his coffee , my backside!
Calm down ; no one is saying he has supplied anything and he wasn't found to have taken anything knowingly; he provided a sample that tested positive with metabolites for amphetamine.

He is disputing having taken them knowingly and people do ingest drugs unknowingly.

(Many people take illegal drugs - it doesn't make them monsters - they are a part of the modern world (and were a part of the ancient world); you normally take sense but seem a bit shrill on this topic).
and they are only illegal because the government says so.

Got to love drug cheat excuses. What was the sprinter Dennis Mitchell's excuse for sky high testosterone - shagging his girlfriend a lot! Lol Anderson strikes my as a classic case of a reasonable talent trying to bridge the gap to a higher level. A domestic level fighter who wanted a short cut to more.

I have to say that Kenny has an understanding wife; if my wife thought I'd been seeing someone else she'd spike me with cyanide and neck the speed herself

Isn't he a bit of a gangster type with a vaguely criminal rep. Which probably partly explains the inactivity over the years.

I think his brother or something is a bit tasty. But on the other hand his sister is Olympic basketball player or something.

Every fam has their black sheep. Kenny has always seems a regular guy, just with a fair share of demons like most fighters.

He has been charged with attempted murder, only dropped when the witnesses didn't turn up.... And George Groves (don't blame him)claimed he got death threats when he was scheduled to rematch him... Other than that, just a regular guy.

Jeff Thomas wrote:There is so much more to this story then I could begin to explain on here, I agree with Arnie any cheat should be banned. Absolutely no chance Kenny willingly took anything to enhance his performance or make weight. It's a nonsense.
Which excuse is nonsense Jeff? The forged signature or the spiked coffee? Or both?

Cheating in boxing more than any other sport is terrible due to the fact your trying to hurt another person and performance enhancement make it a uneven playing field.

However I must admit to being ignorant here but what is the benifit of speed to a boxer? Is there any recognised enhancements brought on by speed?

Thanks

It's been used as an appetite suppressant for decades.

It releases adrenaline and nor adrenaline into the system, the senses are heightened and you feel more on the game, it does suppress appetite and gives a surge of energy - the next day is awful though.

I can't believe that on a boxing forum we have posters discussing the effects , and structure of illegal drugs and we even have others who are entering into further political discussions about whether they should be legal or not.
This forum is about boxing, and I think most of us come on here to discuss BOXING.
Kenny Anderson has been banned for taking illegal drugs. Good , sends a message out don't you think.

It's better than the average cycling ban and more in line with athletics.

The reason I was enquiring as to the effects/ benefits of taking speed was to decide whether Kenny was using the drug as a performance enhancer or recreational.

I think there is something a bit off here as I think in this modern age there would be something more effective than speed!!
