I can see him sitting on his 'moral victory' and biding his time.

I'm not completely sold on him. I think he could unravel again at the top level.
I could see him knocking out 'someone' at the top level. Not everyone at SMW is a throwback.

It is his prerogative. And it ours to call him a dodging Worrier.

But, I think Groves hurts him bad next time, so no rematch.
If you genuinely think that would happen why would you want a rematch? Are you some kind of animal?

Really guys Froch deserves a whole lot better than this.

P.s. Groves should be sending Foster a thank you card. No chance was he getting off the hook.

I watched the fight for about the 30th time tonight.. People question motives.. Why when Froch got knocked down did Foster feel the need to walk Groves to the neutral corner before he started counting? I think Fosters performance needs reviewed by the board. Right through the fight he was consistent in favouring Froch. Very poor performance something needs done
None of the above is Froch's fault.
It's not his fault but he benefited to the extent that the fight wasn't on an equal level; he won a bout with the ref on his side.

It doesn't really matter, it isn't just us anoraks on here; there was lots about the bout and stoppage etc in the newspapers and many 'normal' people think that it was fishy. There have been some outright dodgy things happen in boxing and nothing is done; it is a dodgy sport.

If Froch wants a fight with Ward or Chavez that's his right and his fans will buy the fight; the real bout is v Groves and I'll not shell out for Chavez or Ward.

Groves will be dining out for years - he will be the man who was robbed by the ref - it's done him a massive favour.

I wish the referee had let it go on another 10 seconds, I believe, but obviously don't know, that Carl would have finished him there and then, Groves would have gone down, and Carl would have finished him off. I've yet to see a fight where Carl had someone in retreat like that and looking disorganised and didn't go on to finish them.

Who knows though, perhaps Groves has inner steel, and would have found another punch like the one in the first round in the heat of the onslaught and turned the fight, we can't be sure, but Groves looked to be tiring and slowing, and would likely not have been able to fight his way out of it.

I still hope there's a rematch - god knows there would be plenty of money on the table for it - maybe if the money starts to talk, Carl will change his mind, I hope he does, but won't lose sleep if he doesn't.

A ward rematch seems kinda pointless at this stage, Carl simply can't win that one, he's just not good enough to beat Ward, and a Chavez Jr rematch, whilst lucrative, doesn't offer a lot. Chavez Jr isn't really a major force at 168.

Sensible decision by Froch, can only see Groves beating him comfortably in a rematch. I guess just a question whether he finds a big enough alternative fight to cash out on or has an 'injury' which makes him retire as champ.

It is a sensible decision by Froch - he seems to be having one thought on retirement he must be.... he clearly doesn't want to fight Groves and also Stevenson.

Seems like he wants a pay day with Ward and then out.... why rule out Stevenson otherwise.

People are now 50:50 about the stoppage now.... mmm.... not where I am reading. It was awful and will always remain awful. I know some do agree with Froch, but 50%??? mmm.

Point is mate, Froch didn't stop the fight. He was beating the crap out of Groves landing clean shots and had a better view than anyone else. Adrenaline still pumping in the post fight interview, Froch said Grove's was finished and I can't see any reason not to accept that as fact. Froch was robbed, just as much as Groves. Groves didn't have Carl in serious trouble again after the first round. Froch finishes strong, Groves has questionable stamina. The 'fans' that have turned on Froch for putting his heart and soul into the fight and speaking his mind are fickle.

I think Froch was on the verge of KOing Groves. Froch had taken the best Groves had to offer for round after round and was still there. He had started to get through to Groves who looked to be wilting, the momentum had swung and I don't think Groves could have lasted another 3 rounds.

Froch owes nobody anything in my opinion; he has always fought the best and when all is said and done he probably feels, as I do, that he had Groves beaten. Of course I'd love to see a rematch but that was a tough tough fight and Groves will always trouble him with his speed and power. At 36 I don't feel he has to put himself through that again if the offer is there to beat up Chavez in the US for a fortune. I think Carl should do what's best for Carl. Of course that's tough on Groves but when has sentiment ruled in boxing?

i just feel he has acted like a spoilt little kid after the groves fight ,if the fight was as easy as froch is making out why not have the rematch , he would earn a lot more than he would get vs ward or chavez if money is his motivation .

Carl is desperate for a rematch with Andre Ward but who lost the more clearly?
George or Carl ?
There was clear daylight between the Ward/Froch on the cards why does he think he deserve's a rematch but Groves who was winning on everyone cards up to the ref stepping in does not.
Andre Ward owes him nothing

Froch doesn't owe Groves anything. The ref stopped the fight early, not Carl.

mate i've been on the end of ko wins ko loses close wins close loses BUT AFTER THE FIGHT i was always friendly to the other fighter ,you gain respect for each other in the ring . both fighter dug deep in the fight and for me Froch needs to show some humility towards groves .

I know he did, Carl was losing clearly on the cards for many people up to the stoppage. He may feel he didn't quite underline the win with that performance .
Ward may feel the same as he had a broken hand or he may think nothing left to prove there.
Similar cases of two men wishing for redemption. Kessler gave Froch a second chance for plenty of cash. Maybe these guys will do the same.

He still doesn't like the guy. Want him to pretend he likes him? They are his real emotions, that's how he feels. He can't just snap his fingers and change the way he's feeling.

It doesn't matter if Groves was ahead, there were 3 rounds to go. Usain Bolt may be down at 60m but it doesn't matter if he crosses the line first.

i surpose froch can do what he likes ,if he hates groves then that's up to him but surely if froch hates groves so much and beleives he's the better fighter he would jump at a chance to KO groves again and get his biggest purse ever .

It's more pertinent that Groves (the younger man by 11 years) on the back of a very good showing can do what he wants. The sensible view is that Groves gave Froch a really hard fight and Carl doesn't really want any more of it. Froch is a couple of fights off packing up and if he boxes Ward will be going out on a loss.

Groves has shouted for a rematch and really, with such a controversial ending it is called for; if Froch doesn't want to play he can box someone else and make good money - many more people know who he is and what he can do now.

Keith,

Didn't slag off Froch there.... said it was a sensible decision not to fight Groves..... I'm not even implying that Groves will beat him in a rematch - but I think he now wants maybe one more fight and out. McCraken so much as said the drive wasn't there this time - that why he doesn't want to fight Stevenson.

He aint scared of Stevenson - he aint scared of anyone.... but he is sensible enough to realise that a fighter with one eye on retirement (and he's mentioned it since the Bute fight - lose and I'll retire) isn't going to beat a hungry fighter like Stevenson and isn't going to look good against a fresh fighter like Groves.

Stevenson would be a bad fight, bigger man, big hitter, slick - I think Carl would get a pasting.

Depends what's in froch's head imo.

Does he want to take a gamble on maybe his last fight and try and avenge a loss to Ward - which to be honest I doubt
he would win and Ward in my opinion is the best super middle and I reckon maybe could also clean up the light heavy's too.

or Froch do the right thing and fight George Groves again but like he said he has nothing to gain from it...

So if I was a boxer with maybe 1 fight left in the tank avenge a loss or do the right thing ?? or am I bothered only about the cash..??

Do I want to just think about the money I think froch has enough cash now so he isn't too bothered about that either..

Key question where would he make more money rematching Groves or Ward?

He has also said he would not fight Stephenson - ringside on skysports this week correct me if I am wrong about that.

Personally I think it's going to be either a rematch with Ward or someone random - but not Groves.

If i was groves I would start making plans to fight someone else - the ringside on skysports interview this week said it all - again correct me if i am wrong.
