I think he was gonna get knocked out anyway. He was getting hurt against a guy who's not really a puncher.BillyTKid wrote:Absolutely he was bang in trouble but the reason the towel came in when he was hitting back is he told his corner his hip had gone..taffytoon wrote:Please!! I don't really understand any of what just happened to be honest.
Re: Barker-Sturm RBR (Anyone Cheering The German Will Be Killed)
Im sure that even if his hip hadnt gone, he was getting knocked out anyway! He was getting hurt with every head shot Sturm was landing.reggaereggae wrote:I'm sure he hurt himself, but he was firing a good combination when his trainer stopped itcolumbo wrote:Yeah but his hip was fine before he went down from headshots.milpool wrote:Dislocated his hip apparently...

Don't matter. He needed to fight different to win. He was eating left hooks. Tactics are planning what you're going to.columbo wrote: He fought the same way against Geale though mate!

Sturm kicked his ass basically.DMA1987 wrote:I don't really understand any of what just happened to be honest.

He was being hurt by a guy that's not a puncher aswell though. That doesnt bode well.keithmoonhangover wrote:Don't matter. He needed to fight different to win. He was eating left hooks. Tactics are planning what you're going to.columbo wrote: He fought the same way against Geale though mate!
Re: Barker-Sturm RBR (Anyone Cheering The German Will Be Killed)
I've just watched it; Sturm came out very strong and assertive, he was better than Barker and didn't take a backward step; I don't think the hip was the massive problem, it may have hurt a lot when he went down the 2nd time but wasn't an issue before he got dropped. Sturm was too strong and confident.

I saw the fight, just don't really understand. Wouldn't surprise me if Barker wasn't fit to fight.columbo wrote:Sturm kicked his ass basically.DMA1987 wrote:I don't really understand any of what just happened to be honest.

Yeah but Macklin and Murray would never getting hurt with head shots to the same degree. Macklin got buzzed later on in the fight but generally he took Sturms shots well.
Re: Barker-Sturm RBR (Anyone Cheering The German Will Be Killed)
Im not buying that to be honest. He was moving fine before the head shots rocked him. I think he hurt his hip on one of the knockdowns.DMA1987 wrote:I saw the fight, just don't really understand. Good point; Barker did not seem solid.

People react to punches differently. It takes two people: One to throw a punch and one to catch it. Sometimes it's about angles. In fairness though, he ate a lot of shots.columbo wrote:Yeah but Macklin and Murray would never getting hurt with head shots to the same degree. Re: Barker-Sturm RBR (Anyone Cheering The German Will Be Killed)
He was just waaay off. His timing was awful, his movement shocking. I'm not saying he started the fight with a dislocated hip, but something didn't seem right did it? He took bigger shots than that against Martinez too, who I'd say has a fair bit more power than Sturm.

If you're final payday was 1 million, you'd turn up too.rapid2 wrote:Turned up for a final payday unfortunately.

Who came up with that game plan? Darren should have been boxing of the back foot for the first few rounds but that was the worst I've ever seen Darren box. Cried buckets for him when he won the title but it looks like he was just happy to get to the top of the mountain. No disgrace to lose to a guy like Sturm though.
Re: Barker-Sturm RBR (Anyone Cheering The German Will Be Killed)
Martinez fought a lot on the back foot though in that fight whereas Sturm was pretty aggressive.DMA1987 wrote:He was just waaay off. His timing was awful, his movement shocking. He fought like that against Geale though mate. It worked against Geale. Tonight it didnt.Ketchel wrote:Who came up with that game plan? Sturm must have known before the fight that Barker was open for the left hook.

Did you notice Sturm's veins? He was bulging!!
Good performance from him, stupid decision to go to Germany in your first defence.

Ignoring the result for a minute. Sturm's missus is banging.
