It wouldn't have been any different in England mate. Styles make fights, Sturm wins every single time.ThereByTheGrace wrote:Did you notice Sturm's veins? He was bulging!!
Good performance from him, stupid decision to go to Germany in your first defence.

You probably just answered your statement lolkeithmoonhangover wrote:Great fighters adapt there style for different opponents.columbo wrote:He fought like that against Geale though mate. It worked against Geale. Tonight it didnt.Ketchel wrote:Who came up with that game plan? Darren should have been boxing of the back foot for the first few rounds but that was the worst I've ever seen Darren box. Cried buckets for him when he won the title but it looks like he was just happy to get to the top of the mountain. No disgrace to lose to a guy like Sturm though.

I can think of a million reasons to go

I saw the fight, just don't really understand. Wouldn't surprise me if Barker wasn't fit to fight.
Im not buying that to be honest. He was moving fine before the head shots rocked him. I think he hurt his hip on one of the knockdowns.
Maybe, maybe not. It is a weird situation where (if as reported) you get £1m for a fight and if you lose you get a money spinning rematch back in your home town. If there was an injury you would be very tempted to go through with it. I think barker has a big problem with his body full stop and its roulette whether it flares up. Having said that I agree strum looked to have his number early.

I know there is a contract but can you honestly see a re-match in London after that??

If you sorted your comb over out you'd get a decent birdcolumbo wrote:Ignoring the result for a minute. Sturm's missus is banging.

My thoughts earlier today! His reaction to the Geale win seemed like his dream was achievedKetchel wrote:but it looks like he was just happy to get to the top of the mountain.

Another Matchroom takes the golden carrot away from home and gets a good thrashing. You'd have to question the strategy. No coming back from this for Barker.
Re: Barker-Sturm RBR (Anyone Cheering The German Will Be Killed)
Yeah blame on it on the hip. That is where the money is. If you had a contract to guarantee a home world title fight surely you take it. Rather that than go to America to get beaten up by golovkin or quillin.Loftgroov wrote:I know there is a contract but can you honestly see a re-match in London after that??

Hopefully Sturm won't get as much hate now
, always thought he was alright but he's proved himself to be a class act tonight
Re: Barker-Sturm RBR (Anyone Cheering The German Will Be Killed)
If his hip is fucked then he might have to retire.

He got mullered by a better, stronger fighter and his hip maybe went when he got put down; he managed to fire back OK but when it didn't do much it hurt again. Braker is a nice fellow and has made big from boxing and hope he passes his pilots licence, he'll not box at a high level again; was Sturm ever a hitter?
Re: Barker-Sturm RBR (Anyone Cheering The German Will Be Killed)
I didnt even know he was training to be a pilot!palooka wrote:Loftgroov wrote:"The left side of his hip went in the first round" - Sky
