Sexton vs Browne for Commonwealth title

Post by Maxsplit »

Looks like this is happening now David Price has vacated to, cough, pursue a 'different direction' this is going to be for the vacant title?

Who have you got?

Sexton is clearly the better boxer, but he was vs Chisora and Price but when both caught up with him and tagged him they stopped him in Rounds 6 & 5 respectively.

I think Browne's power will be too much and when he lands you stay hit. Browne KO after losing every round :TU:

Disappointed that Ian Lewison hasn't got his chance for this. Sexton hasn't had a decent win of note for a while. You have to give the edge to Browne in this one. Sexton generally struggles when placed under sustained pressure and his chin normally lets him down. Browne's no world beater though, that's for sure.

Difficult to gauge whether Sexton is still striving for improvement or just going through the motions these days. He potentially could take Browne to school. I wouldn't dare put money on it though.

He's had a tough few months, was due to enter the WBC (I think) World Cup - their equivalent to the Super 6 - with Manuel Charr, Solis, Adamek etc. but it got shelved.

Then injury made him pull out of a Prizefighter that he would have walked through and won.

I really like the guy and even visited his KO Sports Diner in Norwich.

However, Browne's power (although not his skill) is brutal. He floored Travis Walker three times, something Pulev couldn't do even once ...

Across 12 rounds you would have to envisage big Daddy landing with a big right hand, and that will basically be game over for Sexton in my opinion.

I think that's a fair assessment. Sexton to make the early running before getting bullied out of it in the middle rounds. Browne in around 6 probably.

Browne by KO for me too. Also Sexton needs a warm up before this fight as he is far too inactive Browne by contrast is busy and improving. As for Lewison he needs to fight more or he will walk into a big fight unprepared as Sexton is in danger of doing.

Not sure, they are both talking about it on their respective twitter accounts.

So it is seemingly very close to being finalised.

Browne is with Hatton Promotions - So presumably Hatton and it will be shown on allegedly?

Sexton got tagged by Rogan and was in trouble. Browne is a puncher, he won't last the distance.
