Liam Smith signs new deal with Frank allegedly

Post by chad »

Following Paul and Stephen leaving Frank allegedly seems strange that Liam would chose to stay. Both allegedly and Liam seemed very cheery about their new deal when it was confirmed on TV last night.

http://www.allegedly.com/news/press-r ... mpson.html

"Smith, 25, who is now undefeated in 16 fights with six knockouts, is delighted to continue working with his promoter who he signed with in 2008 and is looking to achieve big things in 2014.

He said, "I'm really happy to sign with Frank again. I'm my own man and I'm glad we got the deal done. I'm now pushing forward in 2014 to either win the Lonsdale belt outright with two further title defences or go for the European title and be in a strong position at the end of the end of the year to be looking at a world title. I'll leave that to Frank to sort out and I'll continue winning in the ring."

Warren now has Butler, Smith, Satchell, Mathews and Selkirk. Plus Fagan who's a big ticket seller, Flannigan and Ronnie Heffron. Instead of piling them all on one show in Liverpool, why not split them into 2 shows, allowing him to get more fighters out and we get more live boxing.

Heffron, both Murrays, Flannagan & Hall ( if he is still going) so he would have the nucleus of a Manchester show.

The Lion is next up for a good hiding at world level in great Matchroom tradition. Unfortunately, Eddie reckons he wants it at home so Bri won't even have a "life changing" purse to console himself with.

Joe only signed earlier this year and John definitely is because he needed Warren's permission to fight on Dave Coldwell's show.

Can't see them affording the money to bring Andrade over, 3,000 at the Winter Gardens doesn't pay for much.

Almost certain I heard Eddie say he was talking to John about possible future fights.

Still with Warren, Hearn may be trying to get him onto one of his shows, but with Warren bringing in fighters in the North West, Murray may well feature heavily in his plans for those shows.

The plan is to get him over here but not in Blackpool, Chief support to Quigg-Martinez at the MEN would be excellent

Prepare for a lot of empty seats then. Quigg doesn't sell loads and Rose doesn't either once he leaves home. Bolton Arena would seem a more likely option to me and I can't see Andrade coming over anyway, not that it matters since he'll give Rose a pasting.

Quigg sells just fine. He's definitely defending at the MEN.

Quigg v Martinez
Rose v Andrade
Crolla v Gethin/Murray

That would do ok and is a solid card

I wondered when you would pop up. Not going to argue with you as I know you are a massive fan of Rose. I think he has done brilliant to get this far, and if he fights for a world title then great. Unfortunately, I think he will get beat. It was more a dig at Matchroom than Rose.

Why is the biggest venue he has topped the bill at Manchester Velodrome then? I don't even think that sold out. He was fighting in leisure centres and indoors at the Reebok stadium in British title fights. Andrade won't come over here, Murray won't be on a Matchroom show anytime soon and Crolla seems to be angling towards a world title fight, so Gethin would be a step back really right now and wouldn't move him any closer.
