Scott "Title Taker" Allan turning Pro Boxing

Post by JamieM »

Looking forward to Bantamweight Scott Allan from Motherwell turning pro. Hes only 21 years old, 2 time world champion at Kickboxing and defended his titles around 8 times. Was a good amateur boxer at junior level and is about to try his luck at boxing. Hes exciting fighter, really fast hands and is a bit of character also and can sell tickets like there nothing so is all in all made for pro boxing. This guy will fight for major titles!

I'm not sure if he boxed for Scotland I went and watched him fight in Glasgow years back and something tells me it could have been against butcher. He was superb. His dedication is unreal and is used to 12 rounds so hopefully go straight into a six rounder. He's got the fan base already and set up and can train full time. Really expect him to fight for British in his first few fights as the division is bare.

Hadn't ever heard of this guy which surprised me since I'm not far from Motherwell so decided to youtube him.

Kickboxing footage

Entrance (the boy aint shy lol)

Whats the script here in scotland with all the kick boxers becoming boxers, I know it makes sense for them to do it but is it as common elsewhere (in england etc?) I thought Cage fighting would possibly attract them more.

Best of luck to this wee guy anyway, looks like his fans could have some good nights in the future, Who is his promoter?

Kick boxing easier to transition to pro boxing than MMA imo - plus he has an amateur boxing back ground.

More money to be earnt in general in pro boxing than MMA you have to be at the very top and fighting in the UFC to be earning big money - kickboxer's do earn well in K-1 but that tends to be only the heavyweights.

Scott was a top level amateur a know he defo boxed for Scotland at the Brittish championships along side Iain ans am sure he won some western and Scottish titles a dont think he'll box. For a Brittish. His first few fights he doesn't need rushed but after 7/8 fights am sure he will reach that level no problem he could maybe have a fight with the boy Wilson for a Scottish title as a good steeping stone but another good boxer for Scottish boxing most defiantly :)

I hear he will be fighting at bantamweight. I have known Scott for about 10 years and seen him come through the kickboxing circuit. He is one talented kid. What I would say is he is a bit small for Bantamweight would expect him to get down to Fly or super flyweight. Jamie Wilson is a fair bit bigger than Scott would be a good fight but I wouldn't expect that fight anytime soon. I think how well Scott does will depend on what weight he fights at. There isn't many fighters around those lighter divisions so will be hard for him to get fights.. I would expect him in a title fight after 5/6 fights..

Scott was a very tidy junior boxer, I can't remember him boxing much a senior. If he can use his skills against the stronger guys at his weight I'm sure he will do well.

Any idea when he is turning and with who?

Im not sure who he is turning pro with mate but I do know they promoted their own shows in kickboxing and have their own venue that they can sell out easily and have good sponsoship so my money would be on them doing their own thing or bringing someone on board from their end. Not sure what this would mean for prospets as they are same area and Scott's fan base is more likely to mean more of a struggle for them. I really think Scott can do big things in boxing:) I hope he picks a manager wisely maybe down south or that.

I hope that turning pro with a novice manager/promoter in boxing terms doesn't hamper his chances as a fighter of getting title shots. I might be wrong but it seems hard to break into the boxing scene.

I'm sure every manager in Scotland will be trying to sign Scott.. Be interesting to see which path he chooses. I think the most important thing will be who he trains with. He has a lot to learn and is still very young.. He needs a trainer who can work with him to progress his career through the levels

Don't think it's the best idea to promote there own shows rite now they know the kickboxing game and can set up fights easily and sell it out but there new to the boxing and setting up an undercard of there own would be too hard a task to start the cost of running both shows is different I would like to see scott sign with a promotor who can keep him busy and get him the fights to develop then secure him title fights

yeah look like he has signed with morrison, for me i believe if anyone in Scotland morrison was the man but i didnt think he should. I hope he can stay active and fight proper fights. As for there own shows there dad is a clever man and will make sure they are well managed and busy.

Yes a know Stuart and I know he does great for them both but u can't hold a show without a stable of fighters and also Alex Morrison will want to call the shots a dont think ul get too much of UR own say with a big promotor like Alex good thing is he's straight into the burns undercard and getting great exposure right away :)

I agree Eddie and from what Alex said to me its not him who protects fighters its mainly there familys who have a say in it so I dont think he has as much say as you think, you cant make people fight. End of day Scott is a tough boy and will take a 50-50 fight which makes it easier for Alex. Same as Ricky made it easy by taking hard fights early on. Scott is a dead cert for any promotor and especially a ricky burns undercard as hell proberly sell more tickets than anyone bar ricky on the show.

I said except Ricky mate. :p Scott is only 21 , could have 2 champions on him and Iain and great sparring. Has Eddie said he will put Iain on undercard? I have rt a few things on twitter but can paul graham not speak to him, Scottish undercard a usually brutal. Iain, Scott allan, simmons, slowey, Simpson, Matty Mcallister and Ricky and I'll be happy with that ha

Iain and scott both do sparring together just now so there great for each other a dont think Iain will be on the burns show we tried and it never developed and we have got other plan just now so we will see where that goes alot of Scottish boxers won't be on certain shows through promotors that's just they way it is and a know u never ment he's sell more than Ricky lol it's just the way a wrote it that apart from Ricky I agree he will sell most lol great opportunity for scott only thing he's really small for bantamweight if he could make superfly or even flyweight be better for him

Spot on be good if he could get down the weight but I cant see him doing it, hes quite broad and has alot of muscle and think he feels good at the weight, see how it goes as im sure Scott walks around not much heavier, Dissapointing Iain hasnt managed to get on the card especially after his show on FW card. Yeah gilmour fighters will never appear on a Matchroom show in Scotland I dont think haha
