I'll have a crack these figures are based some on speculation and some on supposed purse figures from articles.

Barker: £1.5 million

Sturm £1 million, Geale £100k? Martinez £250k. I expect he probably made about £200k up until his big paydays from purses at British/Euro level maybe more

Macklin: £1.25 million

Macklin: Asikainen £75k, Sturm £250k, Martinez, £250k, Alcine £100k, GGG £250k, Russ £50k with approximately 200k in purses from British/ Euro level.

Murray: £550k

Prizefighter £32k, Sturm £100k, Martinez £250k Harder to say with paydays for other fights but I would estimate 175k from other purses as he has some arena fights against decentish opponents

Manager fee. Trainers fee.

Barker made £850k the other day.

Less the deductions above I say he takes home.....

£370k.

Unless he set himself as a limited company to limit his tax liability.

I read somewhere that his purse for the Martinez fight was in the region of $350 000, which is about £210 000.
Power777 is right, once you take away tax and expenses he'll probably be lucky to pocket half of it.

Training expenses would be completely tax deductable, surely?

Yeh I would think most major boxers would set up a limited company? Surely? The most tax efficient way to do things and save a stack on National Insurance too.

Nobody on here, except a few very well informed posters, has a clue what these guys have earned. It's pure speculation.

But Barkers Sturm purse is quite well documented.
The rest? No bloody idea!

Really? Well I heard the figure £840,000. Plus nobody knows his deal with Sims, his training expenses, his tax bracket, income from sponsorship, etc. you can have a guess, but could be way out, either way.

Agreed, but given that the purses seem to dictate the direction of who fights who and the direction of a sport that we pay for - I'd argue that 'public interest' in fighter's earnings is fairly justifiable.

It's a hard sport & people seem to think fighters earn fortunes, I think it should be known so that young kids have a career path for after boxing or whilst there boxing.

Barker has worked hard to get where he did!! He flourished @ British & European level as did macklin with a few hiccups & that in itself takes special talent & the rewards ain't as great as people think like once all the expenses & tax are paid its easy to squander money by just living off it like fighters like Dennis Andries would

Boxers earnings are no one's business but the boxer himself and his close knit team. Have to say though some of the fantasy figures put about make me laugh.

If Macklin & Murray got £250k a piece for fighting Martinez, I'll eat my hat.

Barker's purse for Sturm was either £1 million or 1 million euros, it was reported as 1 million but I don't know what currency that's in.
