Beau jack took a serious beating in that one. Williams actually stopped and asked the Ref to stop it. Hard men both of Em.

That Donovan Ruddock one was awful.

They are in a lose lose situation with Boxing FANS. Stop it before a fighter gets hurt and it's corruption and people question their integrity, stop it too late and it's barbaric and awful reffing.

There are generally acceptable margins though. A punch or two either way is not generally a blight on the ref (evidently a late stoppage is not ideal, but you get my point. Hopefully). It's when the favoured/home fighter gets the stoppage that would NO WAY happen in the exact same circumstances were he on the receiving end that is a stain upon the sport and the man in the middle's integrity.

I hazily remember a Scrap Iron Ryan fight against an import where he was getting a monumental mullering, down at least once I think, then mounted a bit of a fightback and the ref jumped in ludicrously early.

It's when that happens that the ref looks less than impartial.
