Re: Brandon Rios - failed drugs test
no surprise here whatsoever. Its interesting how Bob Arum seems to completely lay the blame away from the fighter. I understand these days that at the high level the nutritionist is the man, but what role does the fighter have in your opinion chaps??
Should he do any homework, or leave it down to his men? At the end of the day its those guys who pay ultimately when a test fails!!

Re: Brandon Rios - failed drugs test
the book stops with the fighter, everything you put in your mouth you need to know its 100% legal to take, its a easy procedure, you ring up the people who are testing you and tell them what your taking and they will either ok it or not, I had a new dietician before I boxed derry to get down to 9st9, he told me everything I was taking was fine but I checked myself just to be certain, its a 5 minute job, I understand mistakes can be made, but ariza has a stigma attached to his name, cheating in a combat sport like boxing is lower than low, your not running faster or jumping higher, your punching somebody in the head faster and harder, boxing is miles behind when it comes to drug testing, ive been a pro 7 years and boxed for the wbo intercontinental title never got tested, british title eliminator never got tested, 2 English title fights never got tested and 25 other fights and never got tested, only been tested once in 7 years and that was after the commonwealth title fight, as a footballer I was tested on average 5 times a year, in training or after matches, I understand its expensive to do it on a regular basis but id like to think the boxing authorities who I respect a great deal wouldn't put a price on me being protected from cheats

It's stunning reading how little you've been tested.curtis wood wrote:the book stops with the fighter, everything you put in your mouth you need to know its 100% legal to take, its a easy procedure, you ring up the people who are testing you and tell them what your taking and they will either ok it or not, I had a new dietician before I boxed derry to get down to 9st9, he told me everything I was taking was fine but I checked myself just to be certain, its a 5 minute job, I understand mistakes can be made, but ariza has a stigma attached to his name, cheating in a combat sport like boxing is lower than low, your not running faster or jumping higher, your punching somebody in the head faster and harder, boxing is miles behind when it comes to drug testing, ive been a pro 7 years and boxed for the wbo intercontinental title never got tested, british title eliminator never got tested, 2 English title fights never got tested and 25 other fights and never got tested, only been tested once in 7 years and that was after the commonwealth title fight, as a footballer I was tested on average 5 times a year, in training or after matches, I understand its expensive to do it on a regular basis but id like to think the boxing authorities who I respect a great deal wouldn't put a price on me being protected from cheats
The BBBofC should fine users big sums and use the dosh to pay for testing.

Do you think Mr Anderson paid back the £15k purse from his title fight win????????????keithmoonhangover wrote:It's stunning reading how little you've been tested.curtis wood wrote:the book stops with the fighter, everything you put in your mouth you need to know its 100% legal to take, its a easy procedure, you ring up the people who are testing you and tell them what your taking and they will either ok it or not, I had a new dietician before I boxed derry to get down to 9st9, he told me everything I was taking was fine but I checked myself just to be certain, its a 5 minute job, I understand mistakes can be made, but ariza has a stigma attached to his name, cheating in a combat sport like boxing is lower than low, your not running faster or jumping higher, your punching somebody in the head faster and harder, boxing is miles behind when it comes to drug testing, ive been a pro 7 years and boxed for the wbo intercontinental title never got tested, british title eliminator never got tested, 2 English title fights never got tested and 25 other fights and never got tested, only been tested once in 7 years and that was after the commonwealth title fight, as a footballer I was tested on average 5 times a year, in training or after matches, I understand its expensive to do it on a regular basis but id like to think the boxing authorities who I respect a great deal wouldn't put a price on me being protected from cheats

It's sad that the sport doesn't appear to take it seriously, less seriously than athletics where clearly the consequences of cheating doesn't impinge on the health of those who don't cheat. Taking PED's to get an artificial advantage to hit somebody harder, faster and for longer is the same as having loaded gloves - I'd hold purses back till the tests come back and those who cheat shouldn't get a penny and their purse should be used to fund testing.

Yep. If some of the big names in the sport past and present got behind a campaign, I'm sure it would work.Manchester Massive wrote:It's sad that the sport doesn't appear to take it seriously, less seriously than athletics where clearly the consequences of cheating doesn't impinge on the health of those who don't cheat. Re: Brandon Rios - failed drugs test
Rios failing a drug test doesnt surprise me, be a fat burning steroid no doubt with his previous weight problems.
Re: Brandon Rios - failed drugs test
I am waiting on mainstream sports figures to just come out and tell the public that they ALL use PEDs, testing doesn't work and no one actually wants to see shitty drug free sports. 99% of top sport stars are some kind of illegal drugs, it's all about trusting your source and knowing what to take and when to take it and knowing the tapering off times to clear your body, there are peds you can take before you go to bed and the will clear your system when you wake up. At elite levels in high profile sports everyone has skill, ability and work ethic in the top percentile so a drug that provides a 1-5% edge can make millions of dollars difference in your paycheck and the difference between winning and losing.

Re: Brandon Rios - failed drugs test
Agree, mate but I still don't trust any fighter than has been within touching distance of Ariza and never have. When he was with Roach, rightly or wrongly, I always took the statement "I'm going to move to The Wild Card" as a euphemism.curtis wood wrote:the book stops with the fighter

Nothing will happen as it was China and not under any of the American commissions. Bob Arum will blame VADA's procedures and will try and rubbish them and say that USADA are the way to go. This will swept under the carpet and forgotten about ASAP.

It is not a fat burning steroid, it is not even a steroid nor is it for fat loss. It is a dietary supplement that although it has relations to amphetamines is not considered really much stronger than a cup of coffee. It has appeared in many pre-workout drinks for years including the best selling Jack 3D which guys up and down gyms in the UK have been using for years.
It caused some controversy after some girl died running the marathon having used it before the race and a couple USA army guys also died and it was blamed.
It is a real low level stimulant that is meant to give you a boost before training and I doubt much more than that. A strong cup of coffee does the job just as well.
I am drug tested bodybuilder here in the UK and this was only put on the banned list a year or so ago, before that it was allowed during training but not "in-competion" and we use the WADA rules.
Personally I do not touch any of this junk, whey, creatine, glutamine and a cup of espresso and I am ready to rock but my point is that a lot of comments flying around from people (here, yahoo, other boxing forums and sites) who appear to not have much understanding of what DMAA actually is and how small a boost it gives, even as I highlighted above calling it a fat burning steroid, it does not promote fat loss.
DMAA is not illegal by the way, it is not listed under the misuse of drugs act but it is not allowed to be used in dietary supplements.
