Garbage!

Post by WayoftheCass »

Only word for this card so far. Smith, Murray and Ogogo all in fights that have no place being on Saturday night TV. McDonnell fight was decent enough but the fact thats the highlight so far says it all. Why the hell is he in with an 11 fight novice at this stage in his career? 2 fights ago he won a world title and now an 8 rounder!

Hearns cards are getting worse. At least Halling and Watt called the Murray fight as the snoozer it was. Oliver and McCrory's attempts to excuse it are pathetic. "Murray fought to a plan......" Aye pi$$ right off Glenn. I'm missing Boardwalk Empire for this! :witzend:

No real issue with the fighters. The opponents are bringing out the worst in them. But the matchmaking is garbage and no way to spend a Saturday night!!!

PS: Don't fancy Johnny Nelson's new role either. Count the awkward silences!

This isn't down the bill, these are televised fights and their shite. The only decent fight left on the show after Zamora's pull out is Bundu-Purdy. Loads of fights, but they're all shocking.

There's only 2 fights left and Murray was fighting on a 9pm slot. The match making for fighters of McDonnell & Murray's suppossed level is pathetic and both looked poor. Murray actually looked terrible. God help him if it's Golovkin in February.

I have to admit, it's not the best sporting spectacle I've ever seen. Was gonna go down the Excel tonight but quite glad I didn't.

Mitchell's opponent was a late replacement, the Southern area title fight between Boylan and Tony Owen is a good competitive fight, your an idiot if you're complaining about that. And obviously Purdy v Bundu is a decent fight with Purdy the underdog.

Last week we had mismatches from first fight to last. Owen v Boylan is easily better than Frank Buglioni's 'fight' last week and the Buglioni fight was chief support.

Southern Area title fights don't belong on the telly, especially when they're 50-50 so there's no prospect involved. I have no issue with the Mitchell or Purdy fights for the reasons you give. No one's comparing it to last week and I wouldn't say Skeete-Lynes or the Chisora fight were mismatches and one of the Evangelou's lost with the other run close. 14 of the fights on this card don't belong on TV and that's the issue.

Nothing what you have said changes the fact that this card has been garbage. First fight I saw was Smith and since then there has been no quality or excitement. Have been able to hear the crowd chatter all night. How bad Frank the W@nk's most recent cards have been is of no consequence. Eddie is at it tonight!

Don't know if I'd take it that far. Have seen Mitchell in some crackers. That fight reminded me of Prescott in that Mitchell was boxing circles round him with not much coming back. This time he found a good finish though. Other guy was completely out of his depth.

He was in crackers...years ago...recently though...I'm hard pushed to remember the last Mitchell fight I enjoyed (barring the Burns fight where I had a small bet on Burns by stoppage)

Nice first round. Though it would take 'Hagler-Hearns' to make up for this card!

Purdy hanging tough. Getting rings boxed round him but doing well with left to the body and letting it all hang out. :TU:

It`s been average for matchroom but much better then the old ffn at least we get to see these fight on tv but the fight have lacked excitement even through some of the fights was more competitive then some thought they would be and better then most of wazza cards and is better then the Christmas cracker and London finest shows Matchroom have done in the past.He has the got the scheduling wrong tonight which means we miss out on the Ochiang fight and the other area title fight.Average show but not the abomination the anti Hearn brigade will make out

Yeah but the matchroom supporters always say that. Always got an excuse for why the card is poor. The Froch-Groves undercard was atrocious aswell and that was PPV.

Kept the ticket selling Southern area title fight until last to make it look better crowd wise for Sky. I bet they had a nightmare with public transport...

I think Matchroom have delivered overall, I will go as far as to say they have done a very good job.

Unfortunately last night was about quantity of fights rather than quality.

I always thought with the amount of signings Matchroom were making, the "budget" for bringing in quality opponents was getting more and more stretched. Last night's show was a tadge predictable and boring but I am completely confident Matchroom will turn it around.

2014 is going to be interesting for Matchroom and their impressive stable of fighters - Big fights have been promised and need to be delivered instead of "warm up" & "tune up" fights.

Give Matchroom a chance.

The fight that looked like a show stealer was cancelled for time constraint reasons. Evans vs ochieng would have been a corker

No budget to bring over decent names from abroad unless they go down the PPV route. Sky are strangling the life out of the game if you ask me.

No defence for the Froch-Groves undercard,I agree it was ppv and it as dire.More often then not they get it right, this card wasn`t that entertaining and the atmosphere was poor when the northan fighters was on, Hearn should of scheduled it better but he wanted to showcase Murray and Mcdonnell on primetime. The main event was decent and overall it was okay.Name a British promoter who is putting on better cards on a regular basis. However I do want Wazza to give Hearn as much competion as possible and hope his cards improve, the Liverpool one was good but the London one was poor but hopefully the next Copperbox card is quality

Yeah but the difference between FW and Matchroom at the moment is they have hardly any of the top fighters anymore. Matchroom have a lot of the fighters to put on these fights but in a lot of cases they're not.

He needs to step up the quality of the fights next year I agree. This year was an improvement on last year and next year should be much better with the stable he managed to build lately. On the ifilm the other day he said he wants to make more domestic fights which can only be a good thing because seeing fighter fight an Argie in a intercontental fight as chief support is not really good enough
