Should spoiler alerts be compulsory?

Personally, if there's a fight I've recorded overnight that I don't want spoiled, I don't check ANYTHING until I've seen it.

Boxrec, Twitter, Facebook, text messages...whatever, I don't look at a single one until I've watched the fight.

That being said, it takes 2 seconds to put a spoiler warning in the title, so I see the argument for flagging spoilers in thread titles just out of courtesy.

But if I didn't want to have a fight spoiled, a boxing forum is the last place I'd visit.

Also if you want to watch the match of the day highlights without knowing the scores, it is worth avoiding the back pages of the paper
But then you could lobby papers to but spoilers on their headlines!

If you want to avoid a boxing result, dont go on a boxing forum or boxing website of any kind. Maybe people outside of the UK and Ireland are, but i reckon most Brit/Irish members visit the Brit/Irish forum to talk boxing on all levels with their likeminded countrymen. My main reason for visitng the forum today was to catch peoples reactions to Broner getting beat, i did not visit the current scene nor do i intend to.

Yes, people should take an extra 2 seconds of their life to write the word *spoiler* next to say 'Broner vs Maidana - *Spoiler*

Because there are plenty of people who hunt around for the fight or a video, and they wish to avoid the result and watch it somehow. Not just the poor, austerity-struck people who cannot afford sky & BN at £50 a month, but also those abroad where even if they could pay for the fight, they have no TV channel or broker to sell it them legally.

Facebook, twitter - obviously the conversations aren't categorised so they are a sandbox for anyone to write anything to be seen by everyone.

But a forum is structured in a way that it's easily doable. Just dont put the result in the topic thread - is it really that hard ?
