Excellent 50:50 Light Welterweight title fight this weekend.

I am talking about Muhammad Abdullaev, who I thought did okay vs Cotto, vs Andreas Kotelink - the man who in some peoples eyes should have scored a W against Witter.

Its for the WBA Intercontinental belt, so although M'Baye is the manadatory the winner of this one won't be far of the radar.

It looks a good 'un. Very tough to call this one.

It is a tough one to call my good man, but I'm just edging towards Kotelnik. Slight edge in experience class of opponent, and durability.
Hopefully if I call this differently to you, I might make up the points in the predictions league. I don't know if you've noticed Stu-Boy, but I'm snapping at your heels, only two places in it!!!!

I have seen bits of both of them and would favour Abdullaev, he had his successes against Cotto and it was the swollen eye that caused the problems. He was a top quality amateur and i think he will outbox Kotelnik to a decision.

Who the hell thought Kotelnik beat Witter?

No doubt he gave Witter trouble late but he basically let Witter win the first 6 rounds and Witter probably won another round late on so Witter was the clear winner.

I thought Abdullaev had the potential to go all the way at one point, but Cotto showed up his limitations. While he's very heavy-handed he turned pro too late in my opinion and consequently can't shed some of his amateur traits. He's also getting a bit past it.
As a result I think Kotelnik, who will be buoyed by his showing against Witter, will survive a few rocky moments t secure a clear points decision.

Abdullaev might be on the slide, I'll go Kotelink on points.

Looking forward to seeing the German hot shot Jurgen Brahmer for the first time, if ZDF screen it. He's up against the Porras, who Froch stopped last time out.
Love to see Froch/Brahmer sometime soon..

It is Brähmer vs Porras that ZDF will show live on the 1½ hour program followed by highlights of Sidorenko vs Lopez.

I know blokes who know their boxing on another forum thought that Witter didn't WIN all of the opening six. Gave one or two of the rounds a draw.

incidentally so was kotelnik. I believe he beat Kindelan a few years back.

I was impresed with Kotelnik when he fought Witter, although he does nothing spectacular he looks very tight and difficult to break down. I reckon he UD's Abdullaev

Kotelnik won silver in Sydney losing to Kindelan in the final. Kotelnik won over Kindelan in the Strandja cup in Bulgaria in 99.

What did Abdulaev do in the Olympics.... Didn't he beat Cotto? Didn't he medal?

Has anyone seen Abdullaev-Cotto from the Olympics? I am sure i remember Steve Holdsworth once hinting that it was a bad decision but 17-7 looks pretty conclusive to me. Abdullaev looked a very good bet for a world title i thought when he beat an albeit ageing Philip Holiday, but since the Clottey defeat things have never quite happened. I think moving back to fight in Germany was a good move though.

Tough to call - I think Abs pressure style may cause Kotleniks countering style problems but maybe not. A real 50-50 fight. Hatton beats either pretty easily.

This should be an excellent technical fight, if a little boring. Kotelnik's jab impressed me against Witter, but I'm not sure his Winky Wright-esque style will be good enough against a guy like Abdullaev (who looks more like a lightweight to me - although that might just be because Cotto is a middleweight come fight time.)

Anyway, I pick Abdullaev by a very close decision.

WBA bantamweight world champion Wladimir Sidorenko, 17-0 (6), from the Ukraine weighed 53,4 kg for his first title defense against Venezuelan Jose De Jesus Lopez, 21-5 (16), who weighed 200 Gramm less.

Live on ZDF television German super middleweight prospect Jürgen Brähmer, 25-0 (21), will do his second comeback fight at 76,2 kg against Henry Porras, 30-5-1 (22), from Puerto Rico who weighed exactly the same.

we can see how Jürgen Brähmer (who KO'd Hatton as an amateur) stacks up against former Carl Froch opponent Porras!!

Interesting fight for sure... good show!!!
