Re: MARTIN MURRAY vrs JARRORD FLETCHER
Hmm interesting. More so because BJS's knocked him out in 2 rounds.
Re: MARTIN MURRAY vrs JARRORD FLETCHER
The guy Saunders stopped in the 2nd round.
A pathetic opponent.

Re: MARTIN MURRAY vrs JARRORD FLETCHER
Yes but look at his position in the rankings , no3 behind geale , geale awaiting sturm clause
Re: MARTIN MURRAY vrs JARRORD FLETCHER
This is quite embarrassing. Martin deserves better IMO hope he gets paid well though.
Also was there ever anything from Hatton as to why the Quillin fight in the UK never materialised ? Was offered Schefer said it on an interview and called Poxon an idiot because it fell through

I reckon Murray's fans will riot when they find out the cost of getting pissed in Monte Carlo...

Re: MARTIN MURRAY vrs JARRORD FLETCHER
Will this feel like a "real" world title if he fights Fletcher for a vacant strap?
The guy was subject to a "british" stoppage against BJS, but still, it should not be a big ask for Murray to beat him.

Re: MARTIN MURRAY vrs JARRORD FLETCHER
I think Fletcher is better than he showed against BJS but I'd expect Murray to overpower him.

I'm not sure they could afford to stay there.mickey1975 wrote:I reckon Murray's fans will riot when they find out the cost of getting pissed in Monte Carlo...

Probably not, I'm guessing the venue's a casino for the high rollers so they're getting a big site fee and giving most of the tickets away.mickey1975 wrote:Can any average fan?expe wrote:I'm not sure they could afford to stay there.mickey1975 wrote:I reckon Murray's fans will riot when they find out the cost of getting pissed in Monte Carlo...
Re: MARTIN MURRAY vrs JARRORD FLETCHER
If the same Murray turns up for this one that did for his last fight, Fletcher would beat him. But that's highly unlikely
Re: MARTIN MURRAY vrs JARRORD FLETCHER
I had a large hotel suite booked in Monte Carlo for the Froch v Abraham fight before it fell through (it was later moved to Helsinki on a different date) . Non-refundable flights and hotel! I let it go to waste.mickey1975 wrote:Can any average fan?expe wrote:I'm not sure they could afford to stay there.mickey1975 wrote:I reckon Murray's fans will riot when they find out the cost of getting pissed in Monte Carlo...
I would regard myself as an 'average fan'. Now I make sure that I book 'flexible' flights/hotels. I have learnt my lesson (..... I also did it for the first Haye v Klitschko fight in Gelsenkirchen which fell through, I ended up watching Klitschko v Chagaev!

Wlad put on quite the clinic against Chagaev. It wasnt competitive in the slightest but I enjoyed the clinic I have to say.
Re: MARTIN MURRAY vrs JARRORD FLETCHER
If you were considering this then staying in Nice is cheaper, livelier and nearer the airport.
Re: MARTIN MURRAY vrs JARRORD FLETCHER
Daniel Geale wetted the appetite , Garth Wood is a honest opponent..
..But Jarrod Fletcher ?
The WBA have picked a bit of a patsy there I reckon. Obviously not Martin's fault, he don't get to pick and choose.

Re: MARTIN MURRAY vrs JARRORD FLETCHER
Don't agree with how Fletcher is elligable (although I do think he is better than his BJS performance would suggest).
Hopefully we can see the likes of Macklin, Lee, Saunders and maybe Barker fight for the title. Hope there isn't any mandatory obligations, rematch closes etc and maybe this battle of Britain could happen.
Might help Darren's decision?

Re: MARTIN MURRAY vrs JARRORD FLETCHER
Could you feel comfortable classing Murray as a world champion if he wins this belt though? It's got to the stage now where belts dont mean anything! I'd rather judge a fighter on who he's fought and who he's beaten vs winning some trinket that has no real validity to it.stujones wrote:Don't agree with how Fletcher is elligable (although I do think he is better than his BJS performance would suggest).

I would class the winner of the a super 4 or super 5 involving the Brits as a world champion if there is a bauble around it.
With one ex world champion and 2 of the other 3 possibly unlucky in world title fights.... think they are definitely world class and possibly the highest ranked of the non-champions in the division. Even Andy Lee was up against Chavez Jnr. Probably between Chavez Jnr and Murray who is ranked highest in the top 10 out of the non title holders.

Re: MARTIN MURRAY vrs JARRORD FLETCHER
Should be a fairly routine victory for Murray as long as last Saturday's performance was nothing more than a blip. Poor match making but it's all about the WBA making more sanctioning fees. Golovkin is the current WBA champ but even then, he got the title when the WBA made Sturm the Super Champ, the same history with a lot of the belts.
In victory, Martin will be known as a World champion to the public but obviously the boxing world will know Golovkin is main man. What ever way he goes after the victory, you can't help but feel that he's on a collision with the G-Train.
Martin's got to take the chance with both hands, he might not get another chance, especially one where he is favourite with the bookies. He'd probably get a shot at Sturm in Germany again but I think we all know the outcome of that fight on the scorecards.

Re: MARTIN MURRAY vrs JARRORD FLETCHER
Fletcher beat de gale and Stevenson handily in the ams didn't he, and won a commonwealth gold. could he be a live underdog that had a bad day at the office against BJS, stoppage there wasn't great was it? Or am I trying to justify the unjustifiable ?
As for being classed a genuine world champion
WBA world middleweight title fight as chief support to a WBA world middleweight tittle fight... Says it all!

Re: MARTIN MURRAY vrs JARRORD FLETCHER
I think the Stevenson he fought in the amateurs isnt the same guy now. He used to just plod forward in the amateurs looking for the big shot. He's more of a "boxer" now. He did beat a slick degale though so yeah you're right on that. Hopefully the BJS result was a blip and he puts up a good fight.Wales wrote:Fletcher beat de gale and Stevenson handily in the ams didn't he, and won a commonwealth gold. could he be a live underdog that had a bad day at the office against BJS, stoppage there wasn't great was it? Re: MARTIN MURRAY vrs JARRORD FLETCHER
True. It says a lot that we have to go back to amateur days to justify his shot.

The WBA defend Fletcher's #3 WBA ranking in part by the fact he holds the PABA title. The PABA (Pan Asian Boxing Association) is similar to the EBU title in that it's an affiliated belt to one of the orgs that can give a high ranking for holding it
