What happened to Leroy Jones?

I was looking into what happened to Leroy Jones after he retired from boxing...he seemed to disappear completely off the radar!
I read that a few journalists were looking for him and traced him down to Los Angeles. Apparently Ron Lyle said he was running a junkyard in Los Angeles with his brother. . . but the journalist could make no contact. Strange one...anyone have any info of the post Holmes years of Leroy. I understand he died in 2010 but nothing I can find on that either..how did he die....Il Duce you have an endless energy and horizonless eons of time...anything you can find??

Leroy Jones

From what I remember, I think he suffered a detached retina in his bout with Larry Holmes, and
claimed that Larry intentionally thumbed him.

He did...had one more fight and was then never seen again....mystery!

Big Bad' Leroy Jones

When he went out to Los Angeles in 1983.

He was the Bodyguard for the Southern California Pop/Rock Band 'Ambrosia' {1983/1984}

Bruce Hornsby joined 'Ambrosia' in 1983, and then went on his won when 'Ambrosia' broke up.

Later, Leroy Jones hooked up with Bruce as a Bodyguard for 'Bruce Hornsby and the Range'. {1986 thru 1989}

Leroy Jones was also a 'personal body guard' for Actor - William Preston "To Live and Die in L.A." from 1985 thru 1987.

Leroy Jones

'Big Bad' Leroy Jones, was Managed and Trained by Bobby Lewis in Denver.

Leroy worked as a sparring partner for Ron Lyle through the 1970's.

After the 'TKO loss' to Larry Holmes on March 31, 1980 - Leroy suffered an eye injury and did
not have the desire to continue in boxing.

In 1981, he worked in Denver driving a 'Big Rig' tractor-trailer {Denver to Los Angeles route}
and blew up to 300 lbs. He also worked as a Celebrity Doorman in a few Denver Nightclubs,
and did a little singing as well.

In the summer of 1982 he decided to return, and lost about 25 lbs. to get down to 275 lbs. He had
one-bout on August 26, 1982 against one-time prospect Jeff Shelburg in Gary, Indiana. Leroy
won by a TKO 2, but decided to leave boxing for good, citing concerns about his eye.

He continued to drive a 'Big Rig', but also continued as a Celebrity Doorman in Denver in 1982 and 1983.

Leroy Jones, came from Mississippi to Brooklyn, New York when was a teenager, in 1964.

Attended Boys and Girls High School, and lettered in Football and Basketball.

Got an Athletic Scholarship to attend Grambling University, and was the starting Tight End
for the Football Team.

Came back to Brookyn, New York in late-1970 and took up boxing at the Telstar Boxing Club in
Manhattan. Was trained by Harold Weston Sr.

Leroy was a New York Golden Gloves Champion in 1971 and 1972.

Leroy Jones, like Jeff Merritt, is one of those characters who post boxing simply dropped off the map. With Merritt there is that one infamous anecdote from Jack Newfield relating to the Tyson/Ruddock weigh in. With Leroy Jones there is nothing, never has been anything, and anyone who has been looking out for word on Leroy Jones for 20 years knows there has never been anything, not the slightest bit of information on him ever.

... And now in 2013 a man on the internet quite remarkably surfaces with news on Leroy Jones that neither journalists or fighters could ever find. He doesn't provide any sources whatsoever, and the rest of his body of work on the forum reveals that the man is a pathological liar who makes up stories, invents quotes and smear fighters. And judging by his activity it is something that consumes every hour of his day.

There is no discussion or debate here. If you want to believe this Il Duce drivel then you must be incomprehensibly suggestible. I'm astonished by how gullible some people are.
