Prince Naseem Hamed may come face-to-face with conqueror Marco Antonio Barrera at the Sheffield Hallam FM Arena this Saturday.

Both featherweight greats will be ringside for the eagerly-awaited IBF/WBA unification clash between Ricky Hatton and Carlos Maussa this Saturday, promoters Fight Academy have said.

Fight Academy's Dennis Hobson added: "You know you are presenting a top quality main event when rivals like Naz and Barrera will sit down next to each as long as they get the see the big fight."

Ticket are very nearly gone for the big event at the Sheffield Hallam FM Arena and the nearest available accommodation for fight night in in Barnsley.
Hobson said: "I appeal to any hotel in Yorkshire which has rooms available for Saturday night to get in touch with us at Fight Academy because we're still trying to find accommodation for some of our guests and fans."

Hmmmmm....Apparently, Tyson will be carrying Hatton's belts into the ring too....

November 22, 2005 - A list-ditch effort to hold up the world championship bout between Ricky Hatton and Carlos Maussa failed yesterday when an American judge refused to interfere with the WBA's sanction of the contest. Hatton, who is generally recognized as the true world champion of the 140-pound division, holds the IBF belt while Maussa holds the WBA title. A lawsuit was filed in New York on behalf of Souleymane M'Baye, the top rated contender in the WBA. M'Baye, represented by Judd Burstein, argued that Maussa should not be able to defend his title against anyone but M'Baye because the WBA allegedly violated its rules when it gave Maussa an exception to his mandatory defense. Federal Judge Denny Chin disagreed with M'Baye and allowed the bout to proceed with the WBA's sanction, although he did order that the Hatton-Maussa winner could not defend the WBA title until further proceedings are held. M'Baye is a legitimate but anonymous contender, below Burstein's usual A-list clientele. However, M'Baye's suit is reportedly being backed by British promoter allegedly, who is already locked in a bitter struggle with Hatton since Hatton left Warren's promotional company. Warren tried on his own to block Hatton-Maussa in a British court but withdrew the motion and now is relegated to seeking a monetary award from Hatton. Warren, however, has reportedly signed M'Baye to a promotional contract and retained Burstein to represent the boxer in a bid to frustrate Hatton's career with his new promoter, Fight Academy. I didn't expect Harrison on the Calzaghe card after he fought Brodie seperately from Hatton Tszyu. Be surprised if Enzo Vs Nelson makes the undercard, Frank will probably bundle that with Lockett Vs Rhodes.

I believe the only seats left for the show now have a "restricted view", thats according to the box office when you phone for tickets anyway.

It's just such a terrible undercard for Hatton vs Maussa.

I'm not paying the PPV for this one, it just doesn't feel worth it. The main supporting fight is a couple of bums doing a heavyweight waltz. Sod that.

Overall, a very poor show from Fight Academy.

Not sure that's quite true, allegedly. Does the Arena have any restricted view tickets? er don't think so. Is this a way of selling off tickets cheap to ensure a full house?

The restrictions are to do with the sky camera locations that are filming the event. Sky may place cameras in certain sections of the arena that will restrict the view of some of the seats.

One of the 'Fight Academy' employees has already revealed that Steptoe and Son are expecting to blow over £200k (ouch!) on the show after Ray 'The Revloutionary' Hatton backed over 2,000 tickets yesterday, hence the "more tickets being released to the fans line".

This show had disaster written on it from day one and proves that the Hattons are working on greed alone. Mind you, that said, any Promoter worthy of a licence (Have they actually got one yet?) should be able to sell Ricky Hatton otherwise what the hell are they doing in the business? What do they need to ensure a full-arena? The second coming of JC himself?

The PPV will be a let-down as will the show itself and then watch the Hatton's scurry back over the Pennines, drop FA and try and find another mug promoter to take a massive risk on their behalf. Audley Harrison tried that one and people soon got wise.

Wouldn't Steptoe's cash be better spent on Clinton Woods, who must be getting piles sitting out for so long? Why isn't he on the show? Because the Hatton's didn't want to cut their cake too thin, that's why.

The Hattons have led these fools a merry dance from day one and I hope they have now learnt their lesson, albeit the hard way, from "The nicest people we've ever worked with" Now you all know why 'Reckless Ray' didn't take out a Promoters licence himself!

The whole thing is a farce.

"I'll be glad when this bollocks is over" said one 'trusted' member of Fight Academy, "we don't even have a firm undercard yet" he continued.

"Hatton couldn't give a toss as his money is being paid by Sky and he isn't helping us one bit cos he's struggling with his weight in MAnchester and Billy Graham is being a complete arsehole being un-cooperatvie (What, is that something new?) this leaves the Promoters facing a financial disaster and one that could finally sink the self acclaimed "New force in Boxing".

Still it was fun while it lasted!
