Kell Brook V Keith Thurman
Kell Brook V Keith Thurman
What does everyone think to this fight? Purely hypothetical as it doesn't seem to be in the pipeline. Interesting though as both fighters are youngish, undefeated, untested at world level and both can punch. Possibly a future world title fight? Or are both going to get found out against the elite at WW?

I think Thurman is a flash in the pan any decent boxer with a bit of power schools him.danamba7 wrote:What does everyone think to this fight? Re: Kell Brook V Keith Thurman
I think Thurman would knock Brook out. I think it would be a competitive fight whilst it lasted though.
Re: Kell Brook V Keith Thurman
thurman has to fight some more top contenders before we can accurately judge him....brook too....but i would go for brook on what ive seen. before the maidana fight some were saying the broner would kill brook.....i think brooks power would have put him down and kept him down.
brook should go for maidana, he could win that fight, and look very good in the process.

Re: Kell Brook V Keith Thurman
Yeah I agree personally. I think Brook has more power than Broner at WW and is more slick than Maidana. Might struggle with Maidana's pressure if he's not 100% fit i.e the first Carson fight.jimcook wrote:thurman has to fight some more top contenders before we can accurately judge him....brook too....but i would go for brook on what ive seen. before the maidana fight some were saying the broner would kill brook.....i think brooks power would have put him down and kept him down.

I think he'd struggle with Maidana's pressure no matter how fit he is. Kell likes to box at his own measured pace. Hence Carson giving him problems.danamba7 wrote:Yeah I agree personally. Oh dear Columbo.
He'd only struggle with Maidana but Thurman would knock him out.

Not sure exactly what you point is mate. It's well established that you're biased towards Kell for obvious reasons. It's not hating on Kell saying that Thurman would beat him and stop him. It doesnt mean Kell is a bad fighter.Parson Cross wrote:Oh dear Columbo.

Re: Kell Brook V Keith Thurman
Brook has never beaten anybody as good as Soto Karass in my eyes. I think Thurman holds the edge in this as he seems to maintain power late into a fight, whereas Kell has been found wanting in the stamina department before.
Re: Kell Brook V Keith Thurman
I cant see someone who struggled with carson jones beating Thurman - Thurman may become the first person to stop Kell IMO (and i dont buy this kell was outta shape them biz)
Re: Kell Brook V Keith Thurman
yes but he rematched jones and beat him easy the second time. brook had his wake up call, and seems to have learned his lesson. he wouldnt underestimate maidana...brooks got a good brain...only a muppet would take maidana lightly.funtime wrote:Brook has never beaten anybody as good as Soto Karass in my eyes. Re: Kell Brook V Keith Thurman
it doesn't look like Kell Brook will live up to the hype that's been following him throughout his career. I think he'd beat this Thurman guy who I only saw throwing a few clubbing rights at some guy that wasn't defending himself but I believe that Maidana would bash him up and Khan would outbox him and get a stoppage.
You've got to be busy and ready to fight for 36 minutes against these Maidana types or you're f*cked, no offence. Going in there with some nice oiled up pecs and fancy shorts doesn't mean sh*t to Maidana if you think you're going to stand around having a breather picking your shots.

Re: Kell Brook V Keith Thurman
Thurman is no mug. 22 wins and 20 KO's - Some of his early stoppages on youtube are pretty devastating. The fact he is continuing the trend as he moves up in class underlines that he is a genuine hitter. When you carry that sort of power, an opponent's game plan can go out the window a bit.
He is a throwback fighter, and would fight anyone. The fact Al Haymon wanted in on his career says something too. Once he has finished his apprenticeship next year, we'll see where he stands at 147, but right now he is a little bit behind where Brook is at.
Be a tough but winnable fight for Kell, as the Sheffield man has power of his own and is pretty fast. It's a fight I'd love to see. It has all the ingredients in my opinion - BUT the longer Brook keeps treading water, the more chance he'll fizzle out. Either in the ring or out of it.
Brook was badly shaken in his last fight, might see him having to move up to 154.

Re: Kell Brook V Keith Thurman
I thought Thurman looked good last Saturday, he dealt with a strong and slower opponent well, he has mobility and is fast and he hits hard, the punches don't need to be set pieces either - the finishing combination was made up on the spin and he got lots of leverage into strange angles. I think that the best chance for Brook to win a welter title is v Maidana and that would be some argument, Porter looks good and has lots of speed. When is Brook due to box again? Hope he gets a decent run next year.

The point I'm making Columbo is that based on what you've said Thurnan is better than Maidana in that you've said Thurman would ko Brook and that Brook would only struggle against Maidana.
Regardless of Brook's chances I have absolutely no doubt that Maidana would smash Thurman and would be a far tougher prospect for Brook.

Re: Kell Brook V Keith Thurman
When I said Kell would struggle with Maidana I meant from a stylistic perspective as in Maidana goes right at you and doesnt give you space to breathe and we all know that Kell is a thinking fighter who likes to counter but likes the fight to be at a certain pace as all good "boxers" do. Regarding Thurman, he's shown he can box *although not as good as Kell I wouldnt say* and he can punch. IMO and obviously it's only that, he's a better "boxer" than Maidana is. The Broner win flattens Maidana to a degree as Broner isnt really a true welterweight and his punching power at the lower weight classes has clearly not been carried up. I'm sure i'm not the only one that would favour Thurman either. You have to remember that Maidana came up from light welterweight whereas Thurmas has boxed at light middle aswell. He's a big welterweight like Kell is.Parson Cross wrote:The point I'm making Columbo is that based on what you've said Thurnan is better than Maidana in that you've said Thurman would ko Brook and that Brook would only struggle against Maidana.

Re: Kell Brook V Keith Thurman
This talk about Thurman is irrelevant, Brook will surely be fighting Porter now. I think that's a good fight. I think that's a much more winnable fight. Before the Alexander fight I'd never been overly impressed. Thurman looks good to me, I'd never seen anyone do that to Soto Karass before and he's been in with some good guys.

Agreed. He has shown me enough to think brook should stay away.G0mez wrote:Thurman is no mug. 22 wins and 20 KO's - Some of his early stoppages on youtube are pretty devastating. I think Thurman would stop Brook at around the halfway point.

Found out - if either get the big fights at the elite bracket - then they would have earnt themselves a good few quid which will dampen the upset quite a bit.danamba7 wrote:Or are both going to get found out against the elite at WW?
Re: Kell Brook V Keith Thurman
I think Thurman would destroy Brook. All wrong for Brook.
Re: Kell Brook V Keith Thurman
I think it would be great to watch and a nice pace for Kell who would out box Keith, possibley for 12 rounds, each of them though has the high chance of being tagged if they get sloppy and quite likely stopped in their tracks
Completely watchable this match up though

Re: Kell Brook V Keith Thurman
I think you are all overestimating Thurman if you think he will beat brook, Soto-Karass was made for him he is so easy to hit, by the way columbo Maidana got him out of there a round earlier and had Broner on wobbly legs so I think you are underestimating his power, Thurman wouldn't be able to catch brook as easily and Brook would pick him off at will, also Soto-Karass had him hurt especially in the first round. A fight with Maidana would be interesting which I think would bring out the best in Kell but I struggle to see how that fight plays out as Garcia seems to keep improving him every fight, I bet Hearn is gutted he didn't get the Broner fight for Kell before Maidana got to him, he would be big in America by now.

When has Brooke shown the ability to suggest he's a sure winner over Thurman? I think this is an even matchupdigzee wrote:I think you are all overestimating Thurman if you think he will beat brook, Soto-Karass was made for him he is so easy to hit, by the way columbo Maidana got him out of there a round earlier and had Broner on wobbly legs so I think you are underestimating his power, Thurman wouldn't be able to catch brook as easily and Brook would pick him off at will, also Soto-Karass had him hurt especially in the first round. Diego chaves and soto karas very good wins on Thurmans record think he'd give brook alot of problems although he can be vulnerable as well so would prob make for a very entertaining fight!!
