Roy 'Tiger' Williams vs Bernardo Mercado. What If?

Post by KOJOE90 »

Two big hitting, intimidating Heavyweight contenders. But who would have been left standing if they had fought in their primes?

Bernardo Mercado

Roy 'Tiger' Williams

I go for Williams to win a brawl. TKO5.

But do you agree fight fans?

How can anyone make an educated decision where so little footage exists of either man? All people can judge Tiger on is 'he say she say' and a video of him getting knocked out by Earnie Shavers. And if anyone has any other fights of Mercado that isnt Shavers or Spinks i'd day 'Bah! Poppycock!'

Joe while your thinking up of some more shitty mythical match ups why not Quick Tillis v Jose Ribalta or Bigfoot Martin v Garing Lane. These might even top this thread in the 'who cares' stakes.

If you don't care then why post???. Simple question really!.
This would actually be a very good fight... Williams had the better jab and would be trying to pop it at Bernardo and follow up with his big punches. Williams has the edge in power too but Bernardo has the better chin... so really I edge towards Williams here but it really could go to the one who wants it the most and I think Mercadoe had a little more heart... this really could go either way.... Williams on points or Bernardo on late ko.... after a real brawl...... :box: :box: :box: 8)

Is the info about Roy Williams being feared by the heavyweights really true? Like, did Lyle or Foreman duck this character?

From what I've heard it is true... Williams was a very dangerous fighter, powerful and with a good jab. His fight with Shavers is a classic.

I have to tell you, I am thinking about going on and on about how I'm not interested in this matchup, but I see someone else beat me to it.

Anyway I'd be lying. I have seen them both fight but I dont' have any tapes. I think I'm going to think about it, see if I can find something to read on them and chime in later.

However I do think it is a very good idea for people to whine, and complain, and bitch about things that are on threads that they are not interested in. It keeps them from going and enjoying themselves and maybe being somewhere they want to be and possibly even having fun.

And I find that there is a perverse sort of justice to that. But that's just me.

Well Base on my memory only, I'd go with Williams, Mercado was sort of lumbering and Williams could be pretty energized. But I'm going on some pretty blurry memories on this.

Overhand, I just love it so much when you flirt with me. It makes me feel warm inside and makes me smile and laugh that you can't resist paying me so much attention.

I always know that if I mention a 70's Heavyweight or any fighter with a Jeri Curl you always get so excited, it's so cute.

And as for you 'who cares' comment. I think we shall now change your name to Cleopatra (Queen of De-Nile). You obviously do care, a great deal as you always take the time to post on many of my threads. Don't be ashamed of that, just admit you just can't resist what I have to give you. Be proud of who you are, you will feel better for it :TU: :TU: :TU: :TU:

Wow! This is really reaching for a fantasy matchup.

I saw Mercado train and I saw him fight and folks, he was just ordinary. A better than average puncher but slow and plodding....

And Roy I saw fight Shavers on TV and saw him sparring once and he was a gym fighter who could make you look bad at times but lacked the real fire and was also ordinary...
