Curtis Woodhouse to retire after British Title fight....

this is it folks, this one is for all the marbles, I dreamed about it many years ago, now I have to go out and do it, with it being my last fight I aim to throw the kitchen sink at the champ, ive had a great time in this sport and ive achieved more than I ever dreamed of, becoming the champion of England was brilliant, I loved the all out war with dale miles and I enjoyed going to Doncaster and beating stefy bull up when everybody thought id get beat, I also enjoyed sticking it to Frankie gavin and earning his respect as a fighter, ive announced ill walk away after this fight hopefully as the british champion then id feel as if ive achieved everything I ever wanted out of the game, ,people say about winning it outright but that was never a dream of mine, nor was being euro or world champion, the dream was the british title, nothing more, nothing less, ive been a professional athlete for 17 years with the footie and the boxing and ive had a fantastic life, I feel a very lucky man, walking away when I feel like im just coming into my best years isn't the way fighters normally go but ive never done things the normal way! feb 22nd ill leave with no regrets, ill give everything that night and be willing to do or go wherever I need to to win, hopefully it will be enough, Hamilton is very good but if im at my best I can beat him, ive had a few knockers over the years, people who mocked me and tried to belittle my dreams, I hope I have changed a few peoples minds over the years, ive always tried to give the best ive got and be willing to go out on my shield if that's what was needed, ive never quit when it got tough and always gave value for money and im proud of that, thanks for all the love boxrec has given me over the years, ive appreciated it

If you get the right sparring and f*ck the turkey off at Christmas, and also do the weight right - I am convinced you have a chance .... just wouldnt want you being over eager because you know its your last fight.

Some must dos in this fight is to stick to the fight plan and do not get involved in a war ... its easy for me to say that I am not in the ring ...

had 3 days off after last Fridays fight then went straight back into the gym, im already in good condition so its just a case of topping it up, not had a drop of booze for ages, a desperate man is a dangerous man

Styles make fights,I believe it will be a good blend & both late starters. I'd actually say Curtis has the better pedigree in this one & Hamilton has more of a roar awkward style but has great desire & strength & Curtis is capable if he gets his tactics right. Bit sad to hear if Curtis jacks, he is very healthy for the domestic scene & fights with great pride

You've not been trying to though; as long as you're content and happy with what you've done in the sport then it's been a positive; you've not let anyone down and I'd say you've overachieved; you'll never please the Gils of the world but I doubt that they're ever really happy with anything.

ive 100% overachieved, I remember the 1st day I walked into the gym I use to get hammered off everybody in sparring, amateurs, pros, and just you local keep fitters use to do a number on me but I kept coming back day after day, nobody who 1st saw me when I started would of predicted anything but a short sharp painful career, im not brilliant, far from it but im not too shabby either, and ive done MYSELF proud, not too fussed about the gilffys of the world, feb 22nd will hopefully cap off a career that I can be very proud of

X2 I dont think your average fighter challenges for a Commonwealth title,wins an English title and hopefully wins the British title too

Only a small percentage of pros in the UK get to challenge for major titles,and none have been full time pro footballers,anything but average career Curt

Curtis, not much more I can add to what people have already said, but for me there are two really telling things that regardless of what happens in your last fight prove you've already achieved more than you and many others thought possible:

1) This thread alone proves how you've turned the 'hardcore' boxing fraternity from cynics into advocates. Getting people to change their views 180 degrees is almost impossible in most cases (imagine getting a Labour voter to become a Conversative and vice versa), so you shouldn't underestimate how huge this is.

2) On a directly related note, it's a tiny thing but very telling, which is that everyone on this forum refers to you these days as a boxer, not a former footballer. In other words, you've already made it
