Yes, people should take an extra 2 seconds of their life to write the word *spoiler* next to say 'Broner vs Maidana - *Spoiler*
Because there are plenty of people who hunt around for the fight or a video, and they wish to avoid the result and watch it somehow. Not just the poor, austerity-struck people who cannot afford sky & BN at £50 a month, but also those abroad where even if they could pay for the fight, they have no TV channel or broker to sell it them legally.
Facebook, twitter - obviously the conversations aren't categorised so they are a sandbox for anyone to write anything to be seen by everyone.
But a forum is structured in a way that it's easily doable. Just dont put the result in the topic thread - is it really that hard ?

It shouldn't be mandatory, but a simple common courtesy (I accept that's a bit of a pipe dream on an internet forum). It causes no problems to a poster to have a spoiler free title, so I don't see why people consider it such a problem.

i really can not get my head around anyone that didn't want to know a result going into a boxing forum ......
i wouldn't turn the news on if i didn't want to see what was happening in the world .

I don't log on on Sundays until I've watched the fights from the night before anyway, but I don't see why people can't just create threads without the result in the title, but it's your own fault if you open Broner Vs. Maidana RBR and learn the result without wanting too.

Two other forums on boxing related sites that I frequent manage to enforce spoiler alerts for a whole week after fights happen with little or no problem.
Some users have to be reminded from time to time; established members and staff sometimes forget; newbies need to be advised when they neglect to read the forum rules and FAQ.
But generally, it's not a problem. It means a user can come and discuss another broadcast or fight while they are waiting for a replay or for a chance to watch the card in question on catch-up.
It really is very simple if you have half-way intelligent, polite, respectful forum users. Those sites, and especially one of them, are blessed in those departments with only a few unpleasant exceptions.
They never have thread after thread after thread covering the same fight, broadcast or topic either; the search function works as well in those places as it does here, and the staff there make sure duplicate threads are locked.
Abusive language and comments aren't accepted either.
It's not a race to the end of the gutter.
But all that just doesn't appeal to a lot of people it seems.
So no, I do not think spoiler alerts should be compulsory here in the same way chimps shouldn't be forced to use cutlery when eating their dinners in the zoo. It'd be a bit futile really. If I want to watch people eat with decorum, I'll have tea with human beings.
If I want to watch monkeys eat, I'll go to the zoo.
If I don't want to see spoilers, I'll go to the two forums I referenced earlier.
If I don't care about them, I'll visit here.
So simple even a monkey could get it.
(And there are a handful of truly excellent and insightful posters here which is why I bother visiting at all. This obviously isn't directed at them)
