As long as Roy is under 35 years of age and not in the middle of bouncing back and forth between weight classes when the fight occurs, he beats James Toney every time.

To be honest, I can't see what difference it makes,
Jones Jr easily beat Toney whilst he was coming up to Toney's weight, so I doubt Toney would be anymore competitive dropping to 160 or going up to 175 to fight Jones Jr.
Jones Jr is all wrong for Toney & the ease with which Roy beat James is proof of that.

If Toney would have challenged Roy for the HW title that Roy took from Ruiz....within that time frame.....that would be an opportunity for Toney
And if they had been both campaigning as Heavies....instead of Roy going back down in weight to face Tarver....that period of time may favor James.
Although I suppose it's arguable if Roy would not have lost weight, he might not have lost as much ability.....so it's interesting...but nevertheless it's Jame's best chance ....IMHO.

Toney gets dominated at any weight, Prime Jones was a different level to Prime Toney.

I don't think he was on a different level than Toney, I just think he was a very bad style matchup for him, but yeah I agree he would've beaten him at any weight in their primes.keithmoonhangover wrote:Toney gets dominated at any weight, Prime Jones was a different level to Prime Toney.

Jones would never have lost to some of the fighters Toney did. Jones was unbeatable at his best, Toney never was.gilgamesh wrote:I don't think he was on a different level than Toney, I just think he was a very bad style matchup for him, but yeah I agree he would've beaten him at any weight in their primes.keithmoonhangover wrote:Toney gets dominated at any weight, Prime Jones was a different level to Prime Toney.

As long as Roy has his attorneys to beat the failed tests he should win.
