Certainly no way we can start acting high and mighty when the Russians allow Lebedev to continue....

And who cares about Hall's long term health and safety as long as he gets the W anyway?

Only the referee can truly answer this question. Anything else is purely speculation.

I'll need another look, but while the eye was in bad shape it didn't look so bad to me that the fight should've been stopped.

It seemed to get worse after the fight. I'm sure he could still open it at the end of the 10th. I have no idea if it had fully closed by the 11th.

The eye started to close quite badly late in the fight, but really wasn't that bad until the last couple of rounds. Comparing it to Lebedev's injury is crazy though, even post fight when it had chance to swell up it wasn't anything compared to that mess.

Can you imagine if the ref waved if off in the last 30 seconds of the 12th round on account of the eye. I wonder if he'd make it to his car without getting lynched? :OhYes:

To my view it only got really bad in the middle of the eleventh, conspicuously just after the two engaged in a battle of the forehead that caused the referee to b****** both men. I reckon if there had been longer to go, or if MAlinga was still carrying any significant pop in his punches, they would have had more of a look.

I'm amazed it wasn't looked at. If the doctor had said that it was OK then so be it.

But considering that the commentary crew were saying it was closed (they had a better view than me and you) the lack of willingness to EVEN SHOW it the doctor smacks of not being happy that he may have given an answer Hall and his crew may not have liked.

In the end I just want to see the fighters safe.

BTW, if Malinga had that swelling, would the doctor have had a look?

Who cares ? British fighters havent got a hope of getting a decision in most territories so why do we have to be apologists to our own fighters getting the rub over here ?

I care that fighters aren't allowed to fight with an eye closed in a sport where you can die..bit more complex than 'they rob us, we rob em back and giggle ablout it'

The eye was bad but not bad enough to stop a world title fight, especially one where the impaired fighter seemed to be winning and also although Malinga was looking for the right hand over the top and was finding it more frequently i dont think it was having too much of an impact of the outcome of the fight, infact it was at it,s worst after the 8th and i gave Hall the 10th and 11th and 12th even and i,m NEVER(always) wrong when it comes to scoring fights

I do think we are in danger of watching a sport where the home fighter can get loads of favours while the guy in the away is going to get fleeced...shame some 'fans' think this is OK, they enjoy watching the robbery take place.

If you spend all your time keeping a home fighter upright and in the fight because the judges will help you out then you put fighters in danger. The Lebedev inhury was worse but still the same principle. A ref and a corner keeping the home guy in the fight because they are likely to get the robbery decision at the end, but in doing so you risk the long tem health of the fighter.l

Some things are more important than getting the home guy the W

Fair do,s maybe the ref could have called the doc over to have a look but was it having too much of an impact on the fight,i dont think so,so whether a doctor gave it a looking over is irrelevant IMO as the same outcome would occur

No hassle mate...was expecting abuse when I opened it haha!

In the end if an eye is closed then that is seen as dangerous and the fight is stopped in the interest of safety. It is not anything to do with the scorecard or how the fight is going as that is subjective. It is the same as you not letting a guy get to the end of the round as he is ahead and deserves the chance.

Simple terms a man had his eye closed and the doctor didn't even look at it...piss poor
