Post by chad »

Kiko stopped Mathebula in the 9th with a body shot.

I'd like to see him face Frampton in a rematch.

If he faced Quigg, and Quigg won unifying the WBA and IBF titles, would that mean Quigg becomes the WBA Super Champ?

The WBA would class him as the "WBA UNIFIED" champion

I'd like to see him with Frampton, but he'll choose Quigg as it's the easier option and adds another title to his collection

At this point in his career Kiko want's the big money fights.Quigg can't fill two thousand seats in his own back yard. Still fighting on undercards (as "world champ") Frampton vs Parodi (some French guy know one knows) was a Nine thousand sell-out. And Frank has the money to make it happen.

Quigg would comfortably sell over two thousand for this bout. I don't know where people get the idea he doesn't sell from. He may not be as popular as Frsmpton, but is a very respectable seller.

Quigg beats Kiko comfortably for me, I think he has improved dramatically the last couple of years.

Think KIko beats Quigg. Only way Frampton v Quigg happens in near future is a purse bids scenario, therefore Quigg needs to fight and beat Kiko meaning Carl is a mandatory. Don't see that happening though

He will be headlining a mostly empty MEN unless the undercard is brilliant. Frampton's limited by capacity, he could have a lot more in than 9,000 if there was a venue big enough.

I honestly think that Martinez would cause Quigg nightmares! Aside from the fact that im not sure that Quigg can fight on the backfoot aswell as Frampton, im pretty positive that he cant take a shot aswell and he'd have to be able to do that against Martinez unless he managed to blast him out quickly. I'd love to see the odds on that fight if it happened, as if the odds were good, id take a punt on Martinez.

I do see the potential for another Bernard Dunne if Martinez fights Quigg, he'll put it on him from the first bell and Quigg isn't always the quickest of starters and has been dropped by far lesser punchers than Kiko. That Dunne KO brought a huge payday for Martinez and his team, when they got to Dublin they pooled all the money they had together and stuck 10,000 euros on the first round knockout at 66/1.

All this comparing Quigg and Frampton as ticket sellers is a bit pointless. Quigg is popular but Frampton much more so at this stage. However this isn't really because Frampton is so much better or so much more exciting. It's more down to the fact the the Northwest is spoiled for choice with really good boxers. How many even at decent domestic level are currently operating from N.I? Not too many, and Frampton is by far the best of them, hence his popularity. I don't mean to downplay his success though, I think he's world class so fair play to him.

against an opponent who comes to him, quigg uses subtle angles and picks his shots beautifully, sinking in body shots - as seen in the rematch with rendall munroe.

ppl like to mention that Frampton beat Martinez - before Martinez raised his game and won the IBF title. also, quigg destroyed munroe who twice outworked Martinez.

i think Eddie will get Kiko for Quigg and will be a close fight,
I also think Kiko knows that Carl is to good for him and would KO him again,

Carl is a level above Quigg and that will be seen sooner rather than later I hope,,

He didnt raise his game at all. He was just in with a lesser fighter in Romero who didnt have the dig to keep Martinez off of him.

Got to say I’m surprised at how people write Quigg off. He’s a very intelligent fighter who will work every advantage when he’s in the ring. He might not be as big a puncher as either Frampton or Martinez but I don’t for a second believe either one is a clear level above. I’m 50-50 on him with Frampton…and I think he’d be favourite if he fought Martinez.
