I want to see how the land lays when the Copperbox show comes round in mid-Feb. I figure it will be absolutely nothing like what was announced. Perhaps time will prove me wrong though.

If the promoters announced U2, Coldplay, the Rolling Stones and Showaddywaddy for Glastonbury, and on the night the best you get is Showaddywaddy, you might feel short-changed.

I fear there'll be several changes of opponent for Chisora before a last minute sub pops up for an inter-continental title bout, and I'd be surprised if we actually do get Saunders defending both the British and Commonwealth titles. There is a select few challengers for that fight when you eliminate those contenders with other fights lined up, fighters in other camps, or fighters with their own long term career development underway (eg, Eubank jnr).

I hope Copperbox 3 is akin to U2, Coldplay and the Rolling Stones, and doesn't turn out to be a Showaddwaddy, Black Lace and Bad Manners sort of thing

Sykes v Walsh was on the York Hall bill but it's been moved to the Copperbox. Dont really see the big deal, there'll be tickets available on fight week, if you dont like how the card is shaping up, dont buy a ticket. I went to the first one and it was a good night of boxing. The second one didnt warrant the expense so it got swerved. Everyone has a choice.

Not really an agenda, more an interest in this particular sort of thing. I've said lots of times I hope the promoter and his channel survives and prospers. I do find the practice itself fascinating - announcing a show without having made the main fights, then struggling to get good opponents for the house fighters, and so on. It strikes me as a poor way to treat the fans, especially if you consider the practice against other sports or other walks of life. What is billed at the outset is often not what you get on the night, and generally speaking that's not good for business. As a business model it seems to be the case that more importance is placed upon the hundreds of tickets shifted by the several popular undercard fighters on the bill, which may add up to several thousand, rather than for example putting in the promotional graft needed to sign, seal and deliver (for example) Chisora vs Wilder, and selling your show around that mouth watering main event. In other words, building the show from the top down, rather than from the bottom up.

I'd slag off any promoter doing it, it is the practice I frown on, if Eddie was doing it I'd be critical of him.

Valid post. Seems an arse about way of putting a show on. Book venue and date, wheel out the usual suspects and scramble around for opponents for them. Can't really blame FW for doing it though if people are effectively buying their tickets blind. Must be a comfortable position to be in having fighters who's fan base will buy tickets to watch their respective fighter regardless of their opponent.

If these recent updates are correct, then the decent thing for the promoter to do is scrap this show. Of all the fights stated at the outset, only Delboy's remains, and the opponent is a million miles away from the "name opponent" talked about when this show was launched. Rudenko is garbage, I've watched him on youtube and he is inept. He has done nothing to earn a European title fight and his record is built on total nobodies. Anyway, there is a month to go until the show and I expect Rudenko will not be the opponent on the night.

In any other walk of life, the show would be cancelled. I know this one won't in a million years, even if they have to put Buglioni in the main event.

If this sort of thing is allowed, I might as well print my posters now for Mayweather vs Pacquiao to be staged at the local town hall in May. The fans won't get that on the night but so what, it doesn't seem to matter anymore ?
