Rocky Fielding vs Paul Smith

Post by lefty »

Why cant this be made for the Liverpool show in March? I get the feeling that Smith doesnt fancy it. He wants to fight for a world title and Fielding is in all likelihood a massive stumbling block in that regard.

Your joking aren't you !!!! Great performance last time out by fielding but he's petrified of smith! Don't know why , he'd probably be the favourite.
Hearns after that performance is happy for fielding to pussyfoot around. Fielding said Callum was a step backwards, which is quite disrespectfull as Callum is tearing through the ranks & can legitimately knock on any door for a domestic title.

Fielding v Callum Smith would be better IMO.

Yeah it's Fielding that wants nothing to do with it. Doesn't seem very ambitious at all. Didn't want Dodson either

It makes sense. FW put DeGale-Groves headlining at The O2(and it sold very well) and on PPV when DeGale had roughly half of Rocky's bouts and Groves had had the same as Callum. It's easier to make than that fight, too.

There is that as well! Fielding never called Paul Smith out either when SKY were egging him on.

If fielding isnt willing to fight Smith and doesnt think he can beat him, then he probably doesnt deserve to go any further!

You don't expect fighters to call out champions when they are on route unless they want it to happen quicker! But fielding don't want it at all he swerved all questions & shows no desire to the point I don't want to watch him at all, he's name on a bill puts me off it!
Paul smith even mentioned about how rocky is holding a strap & don't want to basically face challenges

Cant see Smith getting anywhere near a world title shot tbh, should be looking towards a European title

Fielding is improving and is fresh, Paul Smith has plenty on the clock, he's seen better days and I'd have thought that it would be Smith who has problems with motivation. I thought that Fielding agreed to a fight with Dodson and said that he'd a lot of respect for Tony as he'd trained and sparred with him and saw him as a friendly face. It may be that Fielding just isn't a gobshite who spouts off; a bit of fear in a fighter can be a good thing.

This :TU: Maybe Fielding is being respectful by not calling out Smith, I've no doubt that Fielding would beat Smith if they fought next, Smith is Euro level at best and has no chance of winning a world title even if he got a shot which is pretty hard to get if he doesn't have a promoter.

For me this fight is a must for 2014 and I'd be dissapointed if it is not the headliner for Eddie's March show in Liverpool.

I started a poll thread not too long ago and the general view is that Rocky knocks him out.

Its weird Fielding doesn't seem interested in the fight at all. Its the next logical step for him plus Smith wants the Lonsdale belt outright so makes sense for him too ( plus it must be his best realistic opportunity financially)

Its good Rocky doesn't slag fighters off and so far has done his talking in the ring. For me when asked about it he should just say something like ' Every British fighter wants the Lonsdale belt and a fight between me and Paul Smith is a huge fight for Liverpool.'

Twice after fights this year sky tried to push Dodson then smith fights and he skirted round it wanting nothing to do with either. He may just be very chilled out but he comes across as having very little ambition or self belief
