You boxed him didn't you? Are you being serious as everyone who has met him likes him.
I was taking the piss to be honest. Just queing a response. haha. Hes not everyones cup of tea but i think hes alright. very opinionated!
Boxed him 4 times as an amateur.
Four times!!
Really good amateur was smith!
not as good as me
Re: 'Nicest' boxer
I was going to say that you must have been good yourself to box him 4 times, he was a hard hitter and solid even as a junior.
Re: 'Nicest' boxer
i was half decent a long time ago, bad accident at 15 halted a possible career in the sport. such is life!palooka wrote:I was going to say that you must have been good yourself to box him 4 times, he was a hard hitter and solid even as a junior.
Re: 'Nicest' boxer
Once spoke to John Conteh, Ross Minter, Lloyd Honeyghan and Johnny Greaves at the same show. Lloyd didn't seem totally with it, but they all came across as decent chaps. Some of Minter's mates looked like they had the potential to be a bit lairy though!

Love the spelling mate. Never knew that Liverpool's finest was Italian!SteveDow wrote:I've met a couple:
Johnny Nelson at the Froch v Rybaycki/Witter v Bradley fight in Nottingham. Was a super nice guy and stopped and chatted to me for a good 20 mins.
John Conti at the York Hall show involving McDermott v Olubamiwu. Again a really nice guy.
He gets a real slagging on here at times but I've also met Buncey twice and he's also a really nice guy who was good fun to chat to.

Sorry to hear that. Did you beat Smith and was he a hard puncher then?
Re: 'Nicest' boxer
No probs these things happen. 2-2 each, all close fought contests. he developed his power in the seniors so he wasnt really a puncher then. he was technically very good.Tomasino wrote:gmanji wrote:i was half decent a long time ago, bad accident at 15 halted a possible career in the sport. such is life!palooka wrote:I was going to say that you must have been good yourself to box him 4 times, he was a hard hitter and solid even as a junior.

Re: 'Nicest' boxer
I've met a few boxers over the years, all of them seemed nice/approachable enough but Haye seemed a bit pissy pants both times. I know others on here have met him and said the opposite so he must have been on his period both times. Most of them had the time to chat, you always see them at the boxing.
I think some of the "nicest" were McGuigan, Woods, Greaves, Dunstan & JonJo Irwin.
